Equipping children with cyber self-protection skills

(QBĐT) - On the morning of May 26, the Department of Health coordinated with Plan International in Vietnam and Plan Quang Binh Office to organize a workshop to summarize the Project "Community-based model to support children affected by violence and abuse in cyberspace" for the period 2023-2025.

The project “Community-based model to support children who are victims of violence and abuse in cyberspace” aims to improve the self-protection capacity of minors aged 10 to 18 against various forms of violence in cyberspace. The project is implemented in schools and 3 communes: Thuong Hoa (Minh Hoa), Truong Son ( Quang Ninh ) and Kim Thuy commune (Le Thuy).

After 3 years of implementation, the project has organized dozens of training courses, community activities for teachers, presenters at the grassroots level, developed operating regulations... and provided equipment for schools, contributing to raising awareness and self-protection skills for children in the cyberspace environment. The practical activities of the project also call for the cooperation of functional agencies, local authorities and the community to build a safe and healthy playground for children in cyberspace.

At the workshop, delegates discussed and proposed future approaches and support, shared about the reporting system in cases of child abuse; appropriate proposals, recommendations and some key measures to limit risks for children when participating in the online environment.
