In the video shared on various platforms, the woman expressed her opinion that if an order costs 99,000 VND and the customer pays 100,000 VND, the restaurant should "give back" 1,000 VND and not take it back.
It is worth mentioning that the owner spoke with a mocking attitude, saying that in some places, instead of taking back 1,000 VND, the customer gave the restaurant an extra 10,000 VND.

"If you come to my restaurant, eat for 99,000 VND and pay 100,000 VND, then give the restaurant 1,000 VND, that's very generous. A guy walking next to his girlfriend and taking back 1,000 VND is... not generous," the restaurant owner said.
The video was removed from TikTok after it was widely shared and received a lot of attention. Commenters expressed outrage at the restaurant owner’s advice.
"There is a saying that small things add up to big things, 1,000 VND is still money. With shops like this, even if it's 500 VND, I'm willing to wait to get it back," wrote Ngoc Hao.
“I always spend freely on necessary things. For things that are not worth it, even if it costs 1,000 VND, I still consider it,” a netizen expressed.
Tam Nguyen account wrote: "Returning even 1,000 VND in change is a cultural value of a person. Why is the restaurant owner not satisfied when the customer asks for the change back? The amount is small but it has become a principle that must be respected when doing business."
According to research, the controversial spokesperson in the video is Ms. Thuy - owner of Ba Loc shrimp cake establishment (Pham Ngoc Thach street, Hanoi ).
After the uproar regarding her statement "complaining about customers waiting to get 1,000 VND in change being inconsiderate", Ms. Thuy posted a video and apologized to customers on the shop's Fanpage.
This person said he deeply regretted his careless statements in the video posted on the evening of November 3.
"From the beginning, I did not expect that my sudden words would cause such serious consequences. The negative comments and the spread of the video were a wake-up call for me to realize my mistake," she shared.
According to Ms. Thuy, the video was not filmed with the intention of "creating dirty content" or criticizing any individual, organization or region.
After the incident, the female owner fell into a state of serious psychological crisis due to having to face a series of negative comments on social networks.
"There was a time when I turned off all comments, thinking of avoiding things and waiting for things to calm down. I realized I couldn't act so irresponsibly," she said.
Realizing her mistake, the woman proactively returned to the restaurant on Pham Ngoc Thach street to record and apologize to everyone.
"I sincerely bow my head in apology and hope to be forgiven," said Ms. Thuy.
After the video with the apology was posted, most of the customers' comments still expressed anger and disagreement with the owner's explanation.
Thu Ba account wrote: "The attitude of laughing and criticizing the customer for asking for 1,000 VND in change and saying it was a slip of the tongue. If people had not reacted, there would not have been this apology video."
"That's bad manners, not bad mouthing, showing contempt for customers, while that money is theirs. Why does the restaurant owner show contempt for others for receiving their own change?", account Nguyen Nguyen expressed.
Thanh Ha account wrote: "The reason customers don't come anymore is partly because they're afraid of the thought of getting back the 1,000 VND change from me, and mostly because they're afraid of the sarcastic attitude of the customer in the clip."
