Awarding scholarships worth over 2.8 billion VND to children in Ly Son and Dien Bien islands

This is the main activity of the charity program organized by the Military Radio and Television Center, the Military Medical Department, the Committee for Population, Family and Children of the Ministry of National Defense , the Military Region 5 Command, the Border Guard Command, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, Military Hospital 354 in coordination with local authorities of Dien Bien and Quang Ngai provinces.

Ly Son is an island district with more than 4,700 households, of which 60% of households live on the sea, 30% of households live on agriculture (mainly growing onions, garlic, corn) and 10% of households live on other industries. Due to the geographical characteristics of the island district being far from the mainland, the conditions of the people here are still difficult, more than 23% of households here are poor and near-poor.

Children participating in the drawing contest "What I want to say" were awarded prizes by the Organizing Committee at the program.

On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the delegation went to Ly Son Island to examine, provide health consultation, and distribute free medicine to 400 children, the elderly, policy beneficiaries, poor households, and people in difficult circumstances. The delegation also committed to performing surgery for Dinh Pham Nhat Duong (born 2022) in Huy Ra Long village, Son Mua commune, Son Tay district, Quang Ngai province, who has a cleft palate.

During the program, the delegation implemented the model “Step to the Future” with a value of 554 million VND. Of which, 2 “Study Scholarships” worth 320 million VND were awarded; 5 “Step to the Future” scholarships worth 104 million VND; 1 living allowance worth 24 million VND and 80 study allowances worth 80 million VND.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association awarded 4 “Steps to the Future” scholarships, each worth 25 million VND; 55 scholarships to support study, each worth 1 million VND, to disadvantaged children with good academic achievements.

Children are happy to receive gifts on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival.

The Lao Dong newspaper also awarded 25 scholarships worth 50 million VND. In addition, the charity club "Warm of Love" founded by Saigon Construction Corporation (SCC) and Hung Vuong University, Ho Chi Minh City, also sponsored 2 "Scholarships for studiousness" worth 320 million VND and 1 scholarship worth 24 million VND. In addition, benefactors also joined hands to award many scholarships of great value to poor students who overcome difficulties living on Ly Son Island. The total value of charity gifts on Ly Son Island is over 1.6 billion dong

Also on this occasion, in the Northwestern border area, Muong Loi commune, Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province , the working delegation also awarded many scholarships worth nearly 1.2 billion VND to children in the highlands. Of which, there were 4 scholarships worth 72 million VND; 45 scholarships to support learning, worth 35 million VND. 20 bicycles and 500 gifts including candy, school supplies, and Mid-Autumn Festival toys were presented to the children.

Sponsors award the program's "Scholarships for Learning", encouraging poor families to help their children go to school.

Muong Loi is a highland border commune, an area with particularly difficult economic conditions for ethnic minorities in Dien Bien district. Living together in the area are three ethnic groups: Lao, Kho Mu, and Hmong, with a poverty rate of nearly 40%. The commune's socio-economic infrastructure is still difficult and lacking, and the people's educational level is uneven.

In particular, the program also coordinated to present 4,000 national flags to the Border Guard of Dien Bien province; Coast Guard Region 2 and fishermen of Ly Son island, Quang Ngai province so that the national flag is present in the border area, so that love for the Fatherland spreads in millions of hearts of Vietnamese people.
