Presenting a bronze souvenir statue to the family of comrade Nguyen Van Trung

On the morning of November 16, the Defense Command of Region II - Son Dong coordinated with the Party Committee and People's Committee of Phu Khuong Ward to organize a ceremony to present a bronze souvenir statue to the family of comrade Nguyen Van Trung - former Secretary of the former Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee (term of the 2nd Provincial Party Congress - 1980) and the 3rd (1983).

On the morning of November 16, the Defense Command of Region II - Son Dong coordinated with the Party Committee and People's Committee of Phu Khuong Ward to organize a ceremony to present a bronze souvenir statue to the family of comrade Nguyen Van Trung - former Secretary of the former Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee (term of the 2nd Provincial Party Congress - 1980) and the 3rd (1983).

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Phan Van Mai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee of the 15th National Assembly; Colonel, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Huynh Van Be - former Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Vo Thanh Hao - former Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee.

At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the revolutionary activities of comrade Nguyen Van Trung. He was known as a staunch revolutionary soldier, dedicating his whole life to the cause of national liberation. Joining the revolution since 1945, he was assigned many important tasks, directly building and consolidating revolutionary bases in enemy-controlled areas. Those drastic efforts created a solid foundation for the Dong Khoi movement later.

In January 1960, as a member of the Provincial Party Committee, comrade Nguyen Van Trung led the Dong Khoi movement in Giong Trom, breaking the enemy's grip on many outposts, creating a major turning point for the province's revolution. In 1965, he was elected Deputy Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee. In May of the same year, he was assigned to Luong Hoa commune to participate in directing and assisting the delegation of cadres of the Central Office for Southern Vietnam and Zone 8 to successfully carry out the campaign to implement the Directive on land policy, mobilizing farmers in the liberated areas to unite, produce, and fight against the US to save the country.

In March 1977, at the 1st Provincial Party Congress, he was elected Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee. In this position, he and the Standing Committee led the armed forces and people to maintain the liberated areas, expand the influence of the revolutionary movement throughout the province, demonstrating the strategic vision and mettle of a dedicated leader.

In 1987, due to health problems, he resigned from the position of Provincial Party Secretary. On December 1, 1989, he officially retired. He passed away on September 1, 1999, at the age of 75. For his great contributions, he was awarded many resistance medals and other noble awards.

At the statue awarding ceremony, the Organizing Committee and delegates performed the incense offering ceremony to commemorate and show respect for the contributions of comrade Nguyen Van Trung.

Mr. Nguyen Van Trung's family representative expressed gratitude for the attention of all levels and vowed to continue to preserve and promote the family's revolutionary tradition.
