On June 10, Children's Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City said that the number of dengue fever cases admitted to the hospital is 2.5 times higher than the same period last year. Some cases have become severe and critical and require intensive treatment at the Intensive Care - Infection Department.

Among them, patient LNT T (6 years old, living in Binh Duong province) was hospitalized in a state of vomiting blood and severe shock after 3 days of fever at home.

Patient NBH (12 years old, residing in Binh Phuoc province) was diagnosed with dengue fever at a lower-level hospital. On the third day, the child was very tired, had a stomachache, and vomited continuously.

The family took a bus for about 2.5 hours to get to Children's Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City. However, upon arrival, the child was in shock, with severe liver damage and liver enzymes 100 times higher than normal.

The children were treated promptly and are recovering.

According to Dr. Do Chau Viet, Head of the Intensive Care - Infection Department, Children's Hospital 2, both children were given emergency care and timely treatment and are currently recovering.

Doctors warn that the southern provinces are entering the rainy season, a favorable time for mosquitoes that transmit dengue fever to breed and develop.

Parents should note that if their child has a high fever for more than 2 days, consider the risk of dengue fever and take the child to see a doctor soon.

While monitoring your child at home, pay special attention to signs of worsening such as extreme fatigue, continuous vomiting, abdominal pain, unusual bleeding, etc.

When the child shows serious signs, immediately take the child to the nearest medical facility for treatment and safe transfer.

If the family is subjective, late detection and treatment can cause the disease to become severe quickly, threatening the child's life.
