A seminar with the theme "The role of intellectuals in France in contributing to the development of science and technology in Vietnam in the new era," was held on November 30 in the capital Paris, France.
Responding to the call of General Secretary To Lam to bring the Vietnamese nation into the "era of rising up," on November 30 in Paris, a discussion session with the theme "The role of intellectuals in France contributing to the development of science and technology in Vietnam in the new era" was held with the participation of nearly 80 overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in Paris.
Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang attended the event.
Overseas Vietnamese intellectuals listened to the passionate sharing of speakers who are currently Professors, Doctors, and Doctors teaching and working in key sectors in France such as economics , healthcare, energy, construction, university education..., which are also issues that the Vietnamese Party and State are concerned about for the country's development in the coming time.
While Professor-Doctor Nguyen Duc Khuong is concerned with the challenges of turning Vietnam into an economically developed country with a vision of 2045, Doctor-Doctor Vo Toan Trung is interested in developing medicine and biotechnology to become one of the pillars of Vietnam's economy.
While Dr. Tran Duy Chau is passionate about the proposal to call for the contribution of overseas Vietnamese experts in the cause of building energy sources for Vietnam, especially nuclear energy and green energy, Professor-Doctor Ha Minh Cuong wants to propose solutions to build an education and training strategy, aiming to build a team of highly skilled scientists and workers.
Each person has a different topic, a different area of interest, a different idea to propose, but all share the same wish, which is to contribute to the development of the homeland Vietnam in the upcoming "era of rising up", as called for by General Secretary To Lam.
Many intellectuals in the discussion also expressed their desire to contribute their intelligence and efforts to the construction of their homeland and hoped that the Vietnamese government would see those potentials so that they could exploit and use them appropriately and effectively.
Sharing with VNA reporters in France, Dr. Vo Toan Trung said that the overseas intellectual force is very large, has a strong role and position in many countries around the world. To contribute to building Vietnam with the expectation of becoming a developed, modern and prosperous country, Vietnam needs to build a correct development strategy based on key pillars such as biotechnology, semiconductors, information, digital transformation, green energy...
In addition to promoting internal resources, it is necessary to take advantage of external resources, including the intellectuals of the Vietnamese community abroad. "Overseas intellectuals, with their deep expertise, are a valuable resource capable of helping the country in many areas, from consulting on development strategies, training high-quality human resources, to coordinating the organization or participating in implementing practical technology projects, contributing to helping the country achieve its set goals," Dr. Vo Toan Trung emphasized and affirmed that "this is an extremely valuable intellectual resource that Vietnam can take advantage of and promote in the current urgent period."
Impressed by the enthusiasm, concerns and wishes of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in France, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang highly appreciated the initiative to organize the thematic meeting as "practical, useful and meaningful," especially in the context of the country preparing to enter a new era, "the era of national growth," as wished by General Secretary To Lam.
"The presentations, as well as the opinions contributed during the discussion, closely followed the breath of life in the country and met the set goals. Therefore, they will need to be compiled into documents for domestic managers to study, refer to, and, together with the overseas Vietnamese intellectual community, put these ideas into practice," the Ambassador emphasized, affirming that "the event also shows that the intellectual community in France has very practical actions to contribute to the country's development strategy, not only for ministries but also for localities."
Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang hopes that in the coming time, overseas Vietnamese intellectual branches in France will continue to promote this initiative, organize many similar seminars, attract more overseas intellectual resources to serve the country; at the same time, expand, mobilize and attract contributions from French friends to this cause, to turn ideas into actions, contributing to enhancing the position of the Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and France in the new situation./.
