Deploying cultural, family and sports work in the last 6 months of 2024

(QBĐT) - This afternoon, July 5, the Department of Culture and Sports (DOC) coordinated with the People's Committee of Dong Hoi City to organize a conference to review the situation of cultural, family and sports activities in the first 6 months of the year, and deploy directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2024. Representatives of the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities, along with the Departments of Culture and Information, the Center for Culture, Sports and Communications attended the conference.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Dong Hoi City to organize a meeting on culture, family and sports work in the first 6 months of 2024.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the Department of Culture and Sports actively advised the Provincial People's Committee to promulgate and implement important programs, projects, plans and achieved many positive results. The Department of Culture and Sports has performed well as the standing agency of the Steering Committee for major provincial holidays.

In particular, the unit has successfully advised and organized a series of activities to celebrate the 420th anniversary of the establishment of Quang Binh province (1604-2024), the 75th anniversary of Quang Binh Uprising Day (July 15, 1949 - July 15, 2024), and the 35th anniversary of the province's re-establishment day (July 1, 1989 - July 1, 2024); the highlight is the celebration and a special art program with the theme "Quang Binh - Journey of Aspiration - Development" organized solemnly and grandly, leaving many strong impressions, highly appreciated by delegates, people and tourists.

Along with that, many grassroots cultural and sports activities took place enthusiastically and widely throughout the province; mobile propaganda work, art performances combined with mobile film screenings to serve people in mountainous communes and disadvantaged communes achieved 75% of the yearly plan; participating in the mobile propaganda contest to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the opening of the Ho Chi Minh Trail - the traditional day of Truong Son soldiers won 1 gold medal and 2 silver medals.

The Department successfully organized the "Happy Family Club" contest in Quang Binh province in 2024 along with many propaganda activities to celebrate Vietnamese Family Day on June 28 and the National Action Month on preventing and combating domestic violence.

The field of physical education and sports also achieved many successes in the first 6 months of the year. In particular, mass sports in the province continued to take place vigorously, the whole province organized over 350 competitions from the grassroots to the provincial level, reaching 50% of the yearly plan.

In particular, the department successfully organized the launching ceremony of the Campaign "All people practice physical exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and the Olympic Running Day for the health of all people at the provincial level in 2024 and the launching ceremony of the whole people practicing swimming and preventing drowning in Quang Binh province in 2024.

At the same time, coordinate to organize a number of large-scale competitions, such as: "Quang Binh Discovery Marathon 2024", the 16th Quang Binh Province Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024, the event to celebrate International Yoga Day 2024 in Quang Binh...

High-performance sports also made a strong impression. Specifically, the department coordinated with the Vietnam Rowing Federation to successfully organize the 2024 National Traditional Rowing Championship.

The high-performance sports teams of the Sports Training and Competition Center participated in 12 tournaments (11 national tournaments and 1 international tournament), winning 79 medals of all kinds, achieving 100% of the set plan. Typically, at the 2024 Asian Youth Swimming Championship, athlete Nguyen Huy Hoang excellently won 5 medals, breaking 3 records in the 800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle, and 4x200m freestyle relay.

In addition to the achieved results, at this meeting, delegates also frankly pointed out the limitations and difficulties in cultural, family and sports activities to discuss solutions to focus on implementing the tasks for the remaining 6 months of 2024 to achieve good results.

In particular, continue to advise on the implementation of Project 6 "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development" in the national target program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the province; focus on monitoring and urging the grassroots to implement the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" in the area and criteria 6, 16 in the National Criteria Set on new rural construction.

Representatives of the Department of Culture and Sports presented flowers to former leaders of the Department of Culture and Information; Centers for Culture, Sports and Communication of districts, towns and cities who retired or transferred jobs.

At the same time, strengthen inspection and examination of activities in the fields under the management of the sector; focus on post-inspection work to promptly prevent and handle arising problems, shortcomings, limitations... in the process of organizing cultural, family and sports activities in the whole province.

In the field of sports, continue to promote mass sports activities, focus on grassroots sports activities, strive by the end of 2024, Quang Binh province will reach 36.7% of people regularly practicing sports, 29.3% of families practicing sports.
