Editor's note: The exhibition of national achievements "80 years of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" at the National Exhibition Center (Dong Anh, Hanoi) from August 28 to September 5 is the largest political - cultural event ever, affirming the stature and position of Vietnam after eight decades of development. The exhibition brings together 28 ministries, central agencies, 34 localities, more than 110 large enterprises and corporations with more than 230 booths, comprehensively introducing the country's achievements in the fields of industry, agriculture, national defense, diplomacy, education, health, culture, sports, tourism, etc.

Raising national status

Located in the central area of the exhibition of 80 years of national achievements, the thematic exhibition “95 years of the Party Flag lighting the way” stands out with a scene decorated brilliantly with the red color of the national flag and the Party flag. Inspired by the construction of Co Loa citadel, the exhibition is designed as a spiral corridor, passing through 6 display areas, 1 animation stage and 1 multi-sensory experience room with 360-degree screen.

Viewers seem to “live” each period, from the Party’s founding, the struggle for national independence and unification, to the period of promoting industrialization, modernization and deep international integration. With many forms of expression, including the display of artifacts and the support of technology, historical milestones have been recreated in a visual, vivid, coherent and emotionally seamless way.

Also located in the central area, demonstrating the importance in the history of the nation's development is the exhibition area of the Diplomacy sector. In this space, all the exhibits reflect the theme "Diplomacy in the Ho Chi Minh era: 80 years of dedicated service to the nation and people". Many visitors were moved when they saw hundreds of valuable artifacts and documents, many of which were published for the first time. These were the notebooks of comrade Nguyen Thi Binh when she was the head of the negotiating delegation at the Paris conference in 1973, the radio that comrade Le Duc Tho used to listen to news from the Paris conference in 1973 until the end of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign...

The exhibition space also vividly recreates historical milestones, events and typical achievements of the Diplomatic sector with very proud numbers. From a besieged and isolated country, Vietnam has become a strongly rising economy , ranked in the top 32 leading economies in terms of GDP scale; has diplomatic relations with 194 countries; established a network of 38 countries with comprehensive partnerships or higher...

Vietnam has also joined the group of 20 countries with the largest trade scale and leading foreign investment attraction in the world; become an important link in many economic links through more than 500 bilateral and multilateral agreements; participate in supply chains and improve Vietnam's position in the global value chain.

Present at the space recreating the United Nations General Assembly Hall, Vu Minh Son, a student at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, shared that he felt a strong sense of pride in his country. From a country that once suffered the flames of war, Vietnam is now a voice that is heard on global issues such as peacekeeping, climate change, and sustainable development.

Inspire creativity

The display area of 12 cultural industries at the National Achievements Exhibition on the occasion of National Day September 2 is also one of the focal points attracting the public. On a large area, the space is designed as a continuous "cultural flow", connecting from tradition to modernity. Each industry from advertising, architecture, software and entertainment games, handicrafts, design, cinema, publishing, fashion, performing arts, fine arts - photography - exhibitions, television - radio to cultural tourism is present as a color in the overall picture, depicting the endless creativity of the Vietnamese people.

The most impressive highlight is the cinema area, where technology and art meet. From 35mm plastic film cameras that recorded images of B52s shot down during the “Dien Bien Phu in the air” campaign, to digital film studio technology (Virtual Production) or virtual space… all take visitors on a journey through time.

“It feels like I am the main actor of a blockbuster movie,” Vu Ha Chi, a young Gen Z (born after 2000) excitedly tried the virtual film studio experience. The combination of old cinematic memories and today's breakthrough technology not only creates a strong visual effect, but also inspires creativity in each person. Not only cinema, the 4,000m2 stage and 200-seat cinema room also bring exciting performances, film screenings, and artist exchanges.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that the motto of the exhibition is “Creation for construction”, considering creativity as a resource for building the future. Culture, thereby, is not only for preservation or enjoyment, but also becomes a driving force for socio-economic development.

The products and works at the exhibition all exude the uniqueness of Vietnam. It is the intersection between classic works of revolutionary cinema and modern blockbusters, collections of modernized Ao Dai on the international catwalk, or sophisticated handicraft products made from bamboo, wood, rattan... It is the connection between creativity and identity that has helped the Vietnamese cultural industry not to be "dissolved", but on the contrary, increasingly affirm its position and enhance the national brand. Cultural industries are gradually affirming their position, becoming important service economic sectors, while preserving and promoting national cultural values.
