According to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), on November 4, the North Korean army launched about 10 rockets from South Pyongan province towards the Yellow Sea at 4:00 p.m. on November 3 (local time).
The incident occurred just before US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth visited Camp Bonifas – the headquarters of the United Nations Command security battalion in the DMZ.

Chosun newspaper reported that the North Korean artillery drill actually took place at around 5 p.m., coinciding with the time the two ministers were present at Camp Bonifas.
Earlier, Mr. Hegseth and South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu Back visited the Panmunjom truce village and the Joint Security Area (JSA) on the inter-Korean border. Mr. Ahn Gyu Back said Mr. Hegseth considered the visit to Panmunjom to be symbolic of the Korea-US alliance.
JCS also announced that North Korea also fired about 10 artillery shells on November 2, right when South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Gyeongju on the sidelines of the APEC summit.
