'Continued: Vietnam' journey through Andy Soloman's eyes

(CLO) On November 4, in Hanoi, the photo exhibition "Continued: Vietnam" by British photojournalist Andy Soloman officially opened.

The exhibition "Continued: Vietnam" is one of the highlights of the Photo Hanoi 25 International Photography Festival, offering a unique perspective on Vietnam's journey of more than three decades of strong transformation through emotional encounters and reunions. The exhibition was carried out by the author in two phases: 1992-1993 and 2022-2024.

“Continued - Vietnam” is a unique photography exhibition bearing the personal mark of photographer Andy Soloman. With a delicate and enduring perspective over time, he has recorded the impressive journey of change in Vietnam over three decades. Each photo contains a story about the vitality, faith and aspiration of the Vietnamese people in the period of renovation.

At the event, Mr. Andy Soloman shared: “ Vietnam’s journey over three decades is reflected in the faces and stories of these people. Through the photos and the reunions, I hope to show how the past and present are closely connected, not only by history, but also by relationships built on trust, respect and sincere affection.”

The exhibition features 21 black and white portraits recently re-created by Andy Soloman, recreating the images of the characters, or their descendants, that he had photographed in 1992-1993. Alongside them are 30 precious documentary photos from the early 1990s, capturing everyday moments of the people whose traces he is still tirelessly searching for.

“ This exhibition is my tribute to the people of Vietnam, who welcomed me as a friend and allowed me to share their lives many years ago. It is also a celebration of the country’s extraordinary development, seen through the lens of personal connection and long-term engagement. By documenting these stories over a long period of time, I hope to provide a unique perspective on Vietnam’s transformation,” added Andy Soloman.

Mr. Matt Jackson - Chief Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Vietnam said: " Our life experiences shape who we are and how we see the world . The powerful photos in this exhibition depict the spirit of the Vietnamese people: resilience, perseverance and happiness".

The exhibition is open until November 30 at 2 Le Thai To (Hoan Kiem, Hanoi ).
