Bangladesh U23 assistant gives 'winged words' to Vietnam U23

Because head coach Saiful Bari Titu had a fever and had to be hospitalized, assistant coach Hassan Al-Mamun represented the Bangladesh U23 coaching staff at the press conference before the match with Vietnam U23 on the afternoon of September 2.

"Vietnam U23 is a very strong team. They just won the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, with a team with good physical and tactical foundation," coach Hassan Al-Mamun shared at a press conference before the opening match of Group C of the 2026 Asian U23 qualifiers.

When asked about researching U23 Vietnam, this strategist shared quite a lot of information.

"Vietnam U23 has a captain (Khuat Van Khang) playing for the national team, players number 7 (Nguyen Dinh Bac), number 9 (Nguyen Quoc Viet) are of high quality. In addition, they have a classy midfield," said the assistant of Bangladesh U23.

U23 Bangladesh did not specifically state their goals for the match against the host team, only saying that this was a good opportunity to compete, gain experience and prepare for the future. In fact, the Bangladesh players who came to Vietnam are quite young.

U23 Bangladesh is the team that arrived in Vietnam the earliest (from August 30) among the opponents of coach Kim Sang Sik and his team in Group C of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers.

Bangladesh's squad for this year's qualifiers is notable for the presence of Cuban naturalized striker Mitchell, who has British, Jamaican and Bangladeshi heritage and has played for youth teams in England such as Birmingham and Sunderland.

U23 Bangladesh will meet U23 Vietnam at 7:00 p.m. on September 3 at Viet Tri Stadium.

Firdaus Kassim, head coach of U23 Singapore, said: "U23 Vietnam is currently not only the top team in Southeast Asia but also in Asia. Vietnamese players are of high quality, a level that Singapore wants to learn from."
