Many schools in Ho Chi Minh City let students go home early.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the circulation of storm Kalmaegi is flowing down to Ho Chi Minh City and the South, causing this area to be at risk of heavy rain and severe flooding due to the highest tide peak of the year. In the next two days, Ho Chi Minh City may experience heavy rain due to the influence of the storm combined with the strong tropical convergence zone, which may cause local flooding in some areas.
Previously, the Department of Education and Training of the city issued a document directing educational establishments to urgently deploy measures to respond to storm No. 13 Kalmaegi; prepare plans to evacuate students and teachers to safe places; and move documents and equipment to dry locations before storms and floods.
The Department recommends that school leaders proactively coordinate with local authorities to receive professional support, materials, and equipment when situations arise. Have a plan ready for online learning, and postpone school schedules during days when storms develop complicatedly. In particular, postpone extracurricular educational activities for students before, during, and after the storm until safety work returns to normal.
