The preliminary review started at 8:00 p.m., lasted about 2 hours, with 43 walking blocks, 18 standing blocks, and many military and special police vehicles with the participation of about 40,000 people.
The rehearsal will include the military, police, public, standing units, and military equipment and special vehicles. In particular, there will be a live commentary from Khanh Hoa bridge (projected on screen) of the parade of armed forces at sea.
The parade of armed forces at sea will be held in Khanh Hoa province, with the participation of forces such as: Navy, Vietnam Coast Guard, Border Guard, Military Region 5. Forces and means of the Navy play a core role with the participation of submarines, missile frigates, missile boats, anti-submarine frigates, various types of coast guard ships, fisheries surveillance ships, military medical ships, helicopters,...
In addition, at the preliminary review there will be military blocs from countries such as Russia, Laos, and Cambodia.
Regarding force organization, there are 6 forces participating in the parade:
- Traditional torch bearer and fire guard.
- Artillery force.
- Air force flies salute.
- Parade and marching forces: 4 ceremonial blocks; 43 blocks representing the People's Armed Forces (26 military blocks, 17 police blocks); foreign military blocks; military vehicles, artillery, special police vehicles; sea parade forces; 12 mass parade blocks; 1 cultural and sports block.
- Forces standing as background: Guards on the podium and 29 standing blocks (18 armed force blocks standing opposite stand A, 11 mass blocks standing on both sides of the new armed force blocks added since August 21).
- The force of arranging shapes and letters.
From 4 p.m., at the Trang Thi-Phu Doan intersection, many people were present to watch the preliminary performance tonight.
Along Le Quang Dao Street, in front of My Dinh National Stadium, many people gathered early to catch a glimpse of the military convoy.
From early afternoon, many people in the suburbs lined up to welcome the convoy carrying soldiers into the city to perform the preliminary rehearsal of the parade to celebrate National Day, September 2.
Joining in the exciting atmosphere of the rehearsal, on Nguyen Thai Hoc street, young people confidently performed songs about the Revolution with passionate patriotism.
Ms. Giang Ha (on the left) shared with Nhan Dan Newspaper reporter: “It was raining this morning but I still decided to go early. At exactly 12 noon, I was at Trang Thi Street to find a place to watch the parade rehearsal. Everyone around was excited, many people wore red shirts with yellow stars, carrying the national flag. Standing in that atmosphere, I felt very proud to directly witness the important moment, when the whole capital was filled with flags and flowers to celebrate National Day September 2. For me, this was a memorable experience and a great honor.”
Present at the parade area, marching past early, a group of students from Hanoi National University of Education expressed their excitement and anticipation to join in the country's happy day.
"Although it rained heavily yesterday and this morning, we still wanted to go to cheer and encourage the soldiers in this mission. And to get a good position to watch live, we arrived at 7am, fully prepared with things like raincoats, umbrellas and some fast food...
When we arrived, we felt very proud and happy to see that many people participated. All the tiredness disappeared when everyone sang the National Anthem together. And it seemed that the weather also 'heard' the Vietnamese people's hearts and stopped the rain so that the rehearsal could go smoothly.
As the young generation today, we are very grateful and proud. Freedom and peace must be exchanged for the sacrifices of previous generations. We, the future teachers, will devote all our efforts to studying, training and building the country to become increasingly prosperous,” the group of students shared.
Young people shouted in unison the slogan: "Patriotism is not a trend, patriotism is in our genes."
On many streets in the center of Hanoi, there is the participation of youth volunteers. With the slogan "Hello Hanoi, sending love", people will be supported with free drinking water and snacks at locations where members are on duty.
Mr. Ho Quang, residing in Dong Anh (Hanoi), said he left at 5am and walked more than ten kilometers to get to the event location.
“I am used to walking around Hoan Kiem Lake for exercise, so this distance is not too difficult,” he said with a smile.
Sharing about the atmosphere and service, he expressed: “The atmosphere is very happy. I have been sitting here waiting since morning without feeling tired. The services are very convenient, the prices are reasonable.”
Mr. Phung Anh Tuan (50 years old, living in Hanoi) shared: “My feelings when remembering the August Revolution Day and National Day September 2 are hard to describe. Right from the first practice session in Hanoi, my niece and I went out to watch. Today, during the rehearsal, my whole family, my wife, and my siblings all went early to wait for the moment the parade passed. I just hope the weather is favorable so that the rehearsal can be complete and beautiful.”
As for Ha My (11 years old, living in Hanoi), she was very happy and surprised when her mother took her to see the rehearsal. "It was very crowded when we went, but everyone was excited, many people wore red flag shirts with yellow stars. The soldiers also took pictures with me. I feel excited and am looking forward to seeing the soldiers and police in beautiful uniforms," Ha My added.
Artillery soldiers are actively drying the guns affected by the afternoon rain, ready to fire according to the Preliminary Review plan.
According to the plan, tonight the Artillery force will use live ammunition to serve the Preliminary Review program, instead of the "fire particle" ammunition used in the two previous General Training sessions. Therefore, the functional forces have arranged the artillery site fence further away than before to ensure the safety of the people watching.
In the Nguyen Thai Hoc - Tran Phu area, people wearing red flags with yellow stars sang in unison the song "As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day" while waiting for the parade rehearsal.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Khuyen, born in Vinh Phuc, married and currently living and working in Singapore, said:
“Every year on the occasion of the traditional New Year, I bring my husband and children back to my hometown so that they can feel and understand the traditional values of the nation. This year, through the media, I learned that our country is organizing the A80 event on a grand scale; therefore, I decided to bring my 6-year-old son back to Vietnam to attend the parade and the commemorative program. When I attended the event, I was very excited. The atmosphere here was solemn and full of enthusiasm. The spirit of solidarity and sharing of the people moved me. Every time the loudspeaker played songs praising Uncle Ho and the homeland, everyone sang together, the exciting atmosphere made me feel young again.”
