On April 24, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that a research team from the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation successfully conducted the first test run of a T-Flight super-speed maglev train on the Phase I superconducting maglev test line in Datong City, Shanxi Province.

According to SCMP, the test run is an integrated test that includes many contents from static testing to dynamic testing of the entire system.

According to Ms. Li Ping, a member of the T-Flight project, through the above test, the research team can preliminarily assess the feasibility of the high-speed maglev train design.

Ms. Li also said that previously, the research team had conducted a test run of the train at a speed of 623km/h in non-vacuum conditions.

In the coming time, the team will expand the route, conduct tests of trains traveling long distances at higher speeds to verify the reliability of the entire system, according to Ms. Li.

Experts also said that more experiments are still needed for the train to reach the target speed.

Once development is complete, the T-Flight will be able to carry passengers and cargo at speeds of 1,000 km/h or higher in a low-pressure tunnel. It is expected that this type of maglev train will be used to connect megacities in China in the future.

In addition to this type of train, recently, SCMP also reported that China has chosen Shanghai and Hangzhou as the locations to build the first high-speed maglev train line, expected to be completed in 2035.

The hyperloop project is of strategic importance to China, helping the country maintain its position as a world leader in transportation innovation.

China currently operates high-speed trains with a maximum speed of 350km/h.
