TPO - On September 13, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), VNU-HCM issued a notice stating that the school will not hold an opening ceremony and will use the funds to support people in flood-affected areas.

The notice has been sent to partners, employees, parents and all students of the School.

The school's announcement said that all the organization work for the Opening Ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year has been carefully prepared and almost completed. However, in recent days, storm No. 3 (also known as super typhoon Yagi ) and floods caused by the storm's circulation have caused serious damage to people and property in the northern provinces of our country. In this urgent situation, the school finds it necessary to share and support the community at this time.

Therefore, the School has decided to cancel the Opening Ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year on the morning of September 27, 2024 as planned; activities to welcome new students within the framework of the Opening Ceremony such as: interactive space with businesses, rewards, scholarships, skill sharing activities for students... will still take place normally.

In particular, the total estimated budget for organizing the Opening Ceremony this school year is 100,000,000 VND (One hundred million VND). The School will transfer it to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to encourage and support people in the Northern provinces to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, according to the general implementation plan of VNU-HCM.

In addition, the School has been calling on staff, employees and students to continue contributing to support the program.

Previously, several other universities in Ho Chi Minh City such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, University of Culture, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University), Van Hien University, Van Lang University, Gia Dinh University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry... also mobilized their staff and employees to contribute to support the people in the North affected by storms and floods caused by Typhoon Yagi.
