On the morning of July 6th, the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) awarded a certificate of educational quality accreditation according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training to the University of Banking Ho Chi Minh City. Established in 1976, this university is under the direct management of the State Bank of Vietnam.
The Board of Directors of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking received the certificate of accreditation for educational institution quality.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking was awarded a certificate of accreditation for educational institution quality according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training for the period 2017-2022.
Following the second cycle of educational institution evaluations conducted since 2022, the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation has issued a decision recognizing the school as meeting educational quality standards as stipulated by the Minister of Education and Training.
In addition, the school has also been awarded certification for its Quality Management System according to the ISO 9001:2015 standard, and AUN-QA quality accreditation for 6 training programs.
Associate Professor Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam, Director of the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation, stated that the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking are consistent with 25 standards and 111 evaluation criteria. This result was achieved after the external evaluation team reviewed the self-assessment dossier, surveyed facilities, observed, exchanged, and discussed with over 200 representatives including leaders, lecturers, staff, students, alumni, and employers.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung, Rector of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking, stated that the university will seriously consider all feedback and recommendations to continuously improve and enhance quality in order to serve the interests of its students.
Sharing further strategic goals regarding quality in the coming period, Mr. Trung said that the university aims for 100% of its training programs to be accredited by 2024, to be accredited according to the AUN-QA standards by 2025, and to participate in prestigious university rankings in the region and around the world .
The Ministry of Education and Training aims to have at least 35% of training programs nationwide meet quality standards according to the first accreditation cycle by 2025.
In many current regulations, achieving quality accreditation standards is one of the important evaluation criteria related to higher education institutions, such as determining enrollment quotas and tuition fees.
For example, Government Decree 81 on the mechanism for collecting and managing tuition fees for educational institutions within the national education system and policies on tuition fee exemption and reduction, support for learning costs; and service prices in the field of education and training stipulates that training programs that achieve quality accreditation according to standards set by the Ministry of Education and Training or according to foreign standards can independently determine tuition fees based on economic and technical norms issued by the educational institution, and must publicly explain and disclose this to students and society.
