From two countries to the world

This year, in his second speech at the United Nations General Assembly, US President Joe Biden caused a big surprise when he opened by directly mentioning his previous visit to Vietnam.

He recalled meetings with Vietnamese leaders; witnessing veterans of the two countries meeting again, exchanging war relics, and the Vietnam-US upgrading of bilateral relations to the highest level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace , cooperation and sustainable development.

At the very beginning of his speech, Mr. Joe Biden highlighted one of the most unique characteristics of the relationship between the US and Vietnam over the past 50 years: reconciliation, overcoming historical past for cooperation.

According to him, over the past decades, no one could have imagined that one day the US president would stand next to the Vietnamese leader in Hanoi and declare his commitment to promoting cooperation at the highest level; Vietnam and the US have gone from being rivals to partners.

President Joe Biden used the developments and achievements of the Vietnam-US relationship to address general world political news.

Because the nature and direction of the new level of partnership between the two countries are similar to the theme of the General Assembly session: Strengthening mutual trust and cooperation for peace, prosperity, progress and sustainable development.

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States can make positive and practical contributions to promoting that common cause.

The way the two countries have overcome history and challenges together is presented by Mr. Joe Biden as a model, as evidence for the feasibility of solving all difficult and complex problems of the world.

Highlighting the bilateral cooperation relationship, Mr. Joe Biden first of all highlighted the vision and political determination of the leaders of the two countries, and the correctness of the directions agreed upon by both sides.

The above mention by Mr. Joe Biden not only demonstrates the development of Vietnam-US relations but also reflects Vietnam's success in development and international integration in general as well as in implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
