Overcoming storms and floods, many teachers in the mountainous areas of Quang Tri province, together with parents, local authorities and border guards, have joined hands to prepare thoroughly so that the young students can welcome the new school year safely and fully. So, on the morning of September 5, nearly 400 students of Huong Lap Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School (A Xoc village, Huong Lap commune, Quang Tri province) eagerly went to school to celebrate the opening ceremony of the new school year, of which 99% are Van Kieu students.

The warm and joyful opening ceremony of the children seemed to dispel the hardships and difficulties they had just experienced. Huong Lap commune was heavily affected by storms No. 5 and 6, many roads were cut off, making it difficult for students to go to school as well as teachers to spread knowledge.

More than a week after the storm, many mountainous villages in Quang Tri province are still isolated by floodwaters. However, despite the difficulties, teachers, with the support of local authorities and Border Guards, have persistently stayed in their villages, cleaned up classrooms, and prepared for the first day of school for nearly 150 students of the Ruc, Sach, and Chut ethnic groups in Kim Phu commune, Quang Tri province. The only road connecting Ho Chi Minh road to Yen Hop, On, and Mo O O O villages has been flooded 2-3 meters deep for the past two weeks. Every day, the commune authorities arrange two boats to take teachers across floods and steep passes to get to school.

Most of the students here come from poor families, living in villages in the middle of rocky mountain valleys. The joy of the new school year was evident in their eyes when they received simple gifts from teachers and the Border Guard. Dinh Thi Huyen Nhu from On village emotionally said: "I feel very happy to receive books and notebooks. I promise to be good and study well."

In the southernmost part of the country, from 6am on September 5, many parents took their children by boat to school to attend the opening ceremony. Dat Mui Primary School 1 is located in the southernmost part of the country (Dat Mui commune, Ca Mau province). Students came to the opening ceremony with excitement and bright smiles on their faces when they met their friends and teachers again. Dat Mui commune has 7 schools with more than 3,300 students. Also on the morning of September 5, nearly 250 students studying at the Binh Chanh Center for Supporting the Development of Inclusive Education (Binh Hung Commune, Ho Chi Minh City) enthusiastically attended the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year. Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, and the delegation of Ho Chi Minh City came to join in the special opening day atmosphere with the integrated students. Both teachers and students at this school have overcome all difficulties and challenges, making efforts to successfully complete the task of taking care of unfortunate students with special circumstances in life.

Along with hundreds of schools in Ha Tinh province, 546 students and more than 30 staff and teachers of Son Loc Secondary School (Xuan Loc commune, Ha Tinh province) entered the opening ceremony of the new school year 2025 - 2026 in a solemn and meaningful atmosphere. Meaningful because the place had just experienced the devastation of natural disasters. Storm No. 5 caused heavy damage to the school's facilities. As the opening day approached, these difficulties seemed to affect the sacred opening day of teachers and students. But with the cooperation of the authorities, after many efforts, teachers and students of the school that was once located right at the center of the flood were ready to enter the new school year despite many difficulties...

The 80-year journey of the education sector is like a miracle, from the country's difficult context to today's great achievements, all of which have grown from the perseverance, determination, and constant improvement of both teachers and students.
