The three athletes who helped bring victory to the Vietnamese table tennis team against Malaysia were Nguyen Anh Tu, Dinh Anh Hoang, and Nguyen Duc Tuan.
In those matches, Anh Tú defeated Wong Qi Shen 3-1 (with set scores of 8-11, 11-5, 11-6, and 11-5). Anh Hoàng defeated Chong Javen 3-1 (with set scores of 11-9, 11-6, 5-11, and 11-9). Đức Tuân defeated Danny Wang 3-2 (with scores of 10-12, 9-11, 11-1, 12-10, and 11-0).
As a result, the two reserve players, Doan Ba Tuan Anh and Le Dinh Duc, did not need to compete. The Vietnamese table tennis team secured a place in the men's team final at the 33rd SEA Games, repeating this achievement after 8 years.
The last time the Vietnamese table tennis team reached the men's team final was at the 2017 SEA Games, where coach Nguyen Nam Hai's team won the gold medal. Anh Tu, Duc Tuan, and Tuan Anh, the heroes of that SEA Games, are participating in this year's tournament.
The Vietnamese table tennis team will compete for the men's team gold medal in the final match at 7 PM tonight (December 14th), against either Singapore or the Philippines.
On December 16th, the most anticipated pair of the Vietnamese table tennis team, Dinh Anh Hoang and Tran Mai Ngoc, will compete in the mixed doubles event. Both are the reigning SEA Games champions.
