Foreign exchange rates today March 16, 2024: Sharp increase in the free market

Specifically, the central exchange rate of the VND/USD currency pair announced by the State Bank for application on March 15 was 23,979 VND, an increase of 12 VND compared to the previously announced rate.

The reference USD exchange rate at the State Bank of Vietnam is listed at 23,400 - 25,127 VND/USD (buy - sell), unchanged in the buying direction and up 12 VND/USD in the selling direction compared to the previous session.

The USD exchange rate in the free market this morning continued to skyrocket in both buying and selling directions compared to the previous session. At the Hanoi market, at 6:41 a.m., the USD was traded (buying - selling) at around 25,575 - 25,655 VND/USD, a sharp increase of 256 VND/USD in buying direction and an increase of 246 VND/USD in selling direction compared to the previous trading session.

This morning, the USD continued to increase in the international payment basket. Specifically, the Dollar-Index - measuring the strength of the greenback compared to 6 major currencies increased by 0.03% to 103,015 points at 6:44 am this morning (Hanoi time).

On March 15, the buying and selling prices of USD at commercial banks continued to increase compared to the previous session. Specifically, the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank listed the buying and selling prices at 24,520 - 24,890 VND/USD, an increase of 20 VND/USD for both buying and selling compared to the previous session.

BIDV listed the USD buying and selling prices at 23,570 - 24,880 VND/USD, an increase of 25 VND/USD for buying and selling compared to the previous session's close.

At Techcombank, the listed USD buying and selling prices are 24,558 - 24,888 VND/USD, an increase of 28 VND/USD for buying and selling compared to the previous closing price.

Eximbank listed the USD buying and selling prices at 24,490 - 24,880 VND/USD, an increase of 20 VND/USD for buying and selling compared to the previous session's close.

The EUR is around 26,232 - 27,671 VND/EUR (buy - sell). The British pound is at 30,700 - 32,006 VND/GBP.

The Swiss franc exchange rate is around 27,283 – 28,444 VND/CHF. The Canadian dollar is around 17,802 – 17,559 VND/CAD.

Australian dollar exchange rate, stands at around 15,805 - 16,477 VND/AUD. Japanese yen exchange rate, buy - sell around 161 - 170 VND/JPY.
