UNESCO officially passed a resolution to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of cultural celebrity Le Quy Don, affirming the stature of Vietnamese intelligence in the international arena.

On October 31, at the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Assembly held in Samarkand city (Uzbekistan), the Resolution to honor and join in celebrating the 300th anniversary of the birth of cultural celebrity Le Quy Don was officially passed.

Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh, Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO, emphasized that this is a great event, showing the pride not only of Hung Yen province but of all Vietnamese people.

Attending the meeting were the delegation of Hung Yen province led by Mr. Nguyen Van Chien, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; and Deputy Heads of the delegation were Ms. Quach Thi Huong, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Principal of Nguyen Van Linh Political School, and Mr. Vu Ngoc Tri, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

Immediately after the Resolution was passed, Mr. Nguyen Van Chien, on behalf of the Party Committee, government and people of Hung Yen province, the famous person's hometown, expressed his thanks to UNESCO and member countries for supporting the nomination dossier. He also pledged to closely coordinate with UNESCO and international partners to organize a series of activities to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of famous person Le Quy Don in 2026.

The adoption of the Resolution by UNESCO has affirmed the international community's recognition of the scientific, cultural and educational values ​​that Vietnam in general and the famous Le Quy Don in particular have contributed to humanity. This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to promote its cultural and historical heritage, while concretizing the policy of building and developing the culture and people of Hung Yen in the spirit of the Resolution of the First Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030.

The event is the result of the efforts and close coordination between Hung Yen province, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, and the support of many domestic and foreign experts. The nomination dossier meets UNESCO's strict criteria, clearly demonstrating the ideals of peace, cultural dialogue, and mutual understanding among peoples.

The famous Le Quy Don (1726-1784), born in Dien Ha village (now Hung Yen province), was a great scholar in the feudal period of Vietnam, outstanding in many fields such as history, culture, agriculture, astronomy, geography and philosophy. More than 40 of his works such as Van dai loai ngu, Kien van tieu luc, Dai Viet thong su are considered massive encyclopedic documents, valuable to this day.

On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of his birth in 2026, Hung Yen province will organize many large-scale and meaningful commemorative activities. Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh emphasized that this is an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce to international friends the image of a country that innovates and integrates while still preserving its national cultural identity.
