In recent years, the spirit of entrepreneurship and the application of science and technology have become an indispensable part of student life at Tan Trao University. A clear proof of this is the success of the school's students in many major startup playgrounds. In 2021, the project "Planting and developing Andrographis paniculata medicinal herbs to support COVID-19 treatment" made a strong impression when it entered the final round and the top 15 best projects in the contest "Students with startup ideas".

Continuing the successes, in 2024, the project “Surface-mounted bamboo tube tea” by a group of students from the school won an encouragement prize at the “Students with startup ideas” contest. With the core idea of building and developing the product of wall-mounted bamboo tube tea, promoting the tea specialty of Tuyen Quang, the project not only brings a unique product but also contributes to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the locality.

Most recently, at the 7th National Student Startup Festival in 2025, Tan Trao University continued to affirm its position when it excellently won 2 consolation prizes. The two projects "Diversifying products from grapefruit" and "Wearable devices to support the visually impaired" surpassed thousands of projects and products to be listed on the event's golden board.

Student Pham Ngoc Anh, class BK6 of the University of Mathematics Education, Head of the project “Diversifying products from grapefruit” said: The project was evaluated for its creativity and ability to make the most of local raw materials. Not only stopping at exploiting grapefruit segments to make soft drinks, the student group also researched and developed other unique products from grapefruit peel, pulp and seeds such as essential oils, shampoo, cooking ingredients and medicine to support disease treatment.

Care and create conditions for students to be creative

Sharing the joy of victory, the project “Wristband device for the visually impaired” by two IT students, Nguyen Minh Quang and Trieu Viet Hoang, also won over the judges with its humanity and ability to apply technology to solve social problems when participating in the “National Startup Festival” for students this year.

This compact device integrates ultrasonic sensors and Arduino vibration feedback technology, helping the blind recognize obstacles and move more safely. Nguyen Minh Quang said: “We hope this device will help the blind increase their independence at a reasonable cost. If this product is mass produced, the price will be cheaper and more blind people will be able to use it.”

It can be said that the achievements at the National Startup Day are not only the pride of Tan Trao University but also a great source of motivation for the scientific research and startup movement of students throughout the school.

Not only creating conditions for students to test themselves when participating in big playgrounds, Tan Trao University always encourages and supports students in the process of choosing and building scientific and technical research topics. At the same time, the school sends staff and teachers to support students, helping to "give wings" to creative ideas to become reality. From 2019 to 2024, the school's students have carried out 150 scientific research topics, many of which are assessed to be of good quality and highly practical.

Dr. Khong Chi Nguyen, Head of the Department of Science Management and International Cooperation, Tan Trao University, affirmed: The school always cares about and creates the best conditions for students to research and create science and technology. Students' research topics are evaluated and classified annually and the school organizes rewards and incentives, thereby arousing in students the spirit of entrepreneurship right from when they are still in school.
