Draining the lake to collect 3 tons of carp, earning hundreds of millions of dong before the Kitchen God's ascent to heaven ( Video : Thanh Tung).

As usual, from the 20th to the 22nd of the 12th lunar month, people in the three villages of Bai Truc, Tan Co, and Tan Hau (Tan Phong town, Quang Xuong district, Thanh Hoa province) are busy casting nets and harvesting red carp to serve the people during the Tet Ong Cong, Ong Tao festival.

Locals say that raising red carp has been a long-standing tradition. Typically, from the 8th lunar month, farmers begin stocking the fish fry, and the harvest season starts in mid-December.

Having been involved in raising red carp for many years, Ms. Le Thi Thai (Bai Truc village, Tan Phong town, Quang Xuong district) said that this year her family expects to sell more than 3 tons of fish to the market. By the 21st day of the 12th lunar month, all the fish had already been ordered by traders.

Currently, Mrs. Thai's family sells red carp to traders both within and outside the province.

According to Ms. Thai, this year the quality of the fish is good, but the selling price is not as high as in previous years. Currently, the price ranges from 80,000 to 100,000 VND/kg.

These days, people who raise red carp are busy with the harvest. From early morning until late at night, traders flock here to buy and collect the fish.

Before the Kitchen God and Stove God festival, local people drain ponds, cast nets, and gather the fish into a small net enclosure, waiting for traders to come and collect the goods.

During transportation to market, carp are packed into large water bags with oxygen pumped in.

According to statistics, there are more than 300 households raising red carp in Tan Phong town. Because red carp brings high economic efficiency, for many years, the local authorities have consistently created conditions for people to accumulate land, converting land previously used for rice cultivation to aquaculture land to increase their income.
