The Southern Hydrometeorological Station said the cause of the heavy rain in the South is due to the equatorial trough's tendency to lift its axis northward through the area above this trough containing many rain-causing disturbances.
Along with that, disturbances in the easterly wind zone from the southern edge of the subtropical high pressure area are moving inland again.
The combination of the two systems will affect the weather in the South, causing increased rain from November 16 to 18. Rain is likely to occur over a wide area, with moderate to heavy rain in some places.
Chance of rain is more concentrated in the Eastern region. During thunderstorms, watch out for tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
Similarly, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also predicted that the Southern region will have moderate rain and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall of 50-100mm, and some places over 150mm in the next two days.
At this time, high tides in Ho Chi Minh City and the South are rising again, with the risk of rain combined with high tides causing severe flooding in low-lying areas.
