The keynote speakers at the panel discussion included Belarusian Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Sergey Maslyak, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Stepan Kalmykov, Cuban Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment José Fidel Santana Nuñez…

Invited as a Vietnamese speaker in the discussion session, Professor and Academician Le Truong Giang, Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, affirmed that in recent years, Vietnam has paid special attention to the development of science and technology, especially in the field of green industry, in order to meet the requirements of socio -economic development.

In particular, at the end of 2024, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam signed and promulgated Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

This resolution emphasizes the role of international integration, the formation of a global scientific ecosystem, and promotes close collaboration among scientists, businesses, and governments to address new challenges.

Accordingly, Vietnam encourages the development of close cooperation mechanisms between researchers and businesses, promulgates new sets of standards, establishes specific testing frameworks for new technologies, and encourages the direct participation of scientists in technological innovation activities within businesses.

At the same time, Vietnam is developing centralized testing zones where scientists and businesses can work together, alongside tax incentives for businesses investing in new technology research.

Professor and Academician Le Truong Giang emphasized that the topic of this discussion session is timely and has profound significance. It reflects the common aspiration of all nations: to create a green, clean, and sustainable living environment that meets the needs of all citizens.

To realize that vision, according to Professor, Academician Le Truong Giang, the key is to promote scientific research, accelerate technology application and build an international ecosystem to stimulate innovation and progress.

With a vision towards a green future, the Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology proposed the following two points:

Firstly , international organizations should be formed to develop common standards for new green technologies and products, thereby guiding sustainable development for countries.

Secondly , we need to establish international-level joint science and technology research centers, laying the foundation for a global innovation ecosystem.

Accordingly, countries could establish a joint research facility on clean energy sources such as fusion or hydrogen energy. Here, scientists, research institutions, and businesses from multiple nations would collaborate.

Clean energy is now a vital element for every economy, and a joint research center like this would allow countries to share the research findings, directly contributing to their socio-economic development.

Bringing together delegates from 118 partner countries, nearly 250 international speakers, and a youth program attracting over 18,000 young people, the first World Atomic Week in Moscow was one of the largest global events in the field of nuclear energy and green technology.

This is not only a showcase for the latest technological achievements, but also a forum bringing together policymakers, scientists, businesses, and international organizations to shape a sustainable energy development roadmap for the coming decades.
