For the first time, an exhibition with a scale of nearly 260,000m² has been completely recreated in digital space. The complexes of the Vietnam National Exhibition from the Kim Quy Exhibition Building with a steel dome weighing 24,000 tons, 56m high, 130,000m² area, to block A, outdoor exhibition areas, VinPalace Co Loa International Convention Center... are completely digitized using 3D, VR/AR and Metaverse technology.
The entire space of the Vietnam Exhibition Center is virtualized for the first time in digital space.
This means that instead of only being present for a few days of the event, the exhibition is now preserved as an open “digital museum”. Visitors can interact on the touch screen located on the 2nd floor to locate, find their way, or experience remotely via the Vietnam.vn National External Information Portal. Thanks to that, the public from all over the world, even overseas Vietnamese, can still accompany and feel the atmosphere of the 80th National Day celebration taking place in the capital Hanoi .
This is not only a technological breakthrough, but also a new approach to preserving and spreading cultural and historical values. “The exhibition no longer closes after a few days, but becomes a valuable source of materials for research, education and long-term promotion of Vietnam’s image,” said an officer in charge of the exhibition booth.
While the project of digitizing the entire exhibition creates an overview, the multi-layer digital map of 34 provinces and cities takes visitors on a more detailed and attractive journey. On the 3D digitalized S-shaped map, each locality appears as a "digital cultural stop", where the public can learn about natural conditions, socio -economic conditions and unique cultural heritage.
34 provinces and cities and their most unique cultural, historical and artistic features are recreated on a digital map.
The map is also interesting in that it integrates two exploration modes. With 2D mode, with just one click, users can open up the beautiful scenery or historical relics of each province and city through thousands of VR360 virtualized locations, bringing the feeling of actually setting foot on that land. In 3D/VR360 mode, typical works are introduced and presented in the form of three-dimensional models, allowing rotation, zooming in, zooming out and even bringing them to life using AR technology to take photos for check-in. Thanks to that, the experience becomes both exploratory and creative.
3D/VR360 mode allows users to explore cities and provinces in a more interesting and new way
Not only is it a technological product, it is also a living data platform. This open data warehouse will be continuously updated and supplemented with new information from localities, to constantly improve and accurately reflect the development of the country. Each small piece of data is therefore collected into a reliable national source of information, useful for education, research, planning as well as promoting smart tourism.
The project was launched on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day, which added to its significance: not only did it bring new, modern experiences to the public, but it also affirmed the creativity of Vietnamese people in the digital age. The presence of Vietnamese technology at a national event was also a strong affirmation of a dynamic, innovative country ready to integrate with the world.
Experiencing the digital project exhibition area firsthand, Do Thi Chi (20 years old, student at the Academy of Journalism and Communication) shared her surprise at how technology brought newness to the exhibition.
“As a young person who loves Vietnam but has not had the opportunity to travel to every region, the Digital Map project allows me to see the beautiful landscapes, heritages and unique stories of each province. It is really interesting that with just one touch, I can visit many different lands, both learning and feeling close. The creativity in this project, along with the emotions and stories behind it, has given me a very authentic and meaningful experience,” Do Thi Chi shared.
Many young people are eager to experience interactive technology projects implemented by the Department of Basic Information and External Information in collaboration with YooLife.
From the project of multi-layer digital map of 34 provinces and cities and the desire to spread the value of national identity on the occasion of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), YooLife also launched a set of 34 symbols of provinces and cities for users to check in AR and print photos on the spot for free. This unique technology experience corner attracts hundreds of check-ins every day, from young people to the elderly, all can easily do it.
In addition to being able to print AR check-in photos with the symbols of provinces and cities as a souvenir, each visitor can also experience wearing virtual reality glasses to travel back to the sacred moment of the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. This experience helps visitors go back in time and stand at the exact place where 80 years ago, President Ho Chi Minh stood on the podium to read the Declaration of Independence, in a solemn and emotional atmosphere and under the eyes of tens of thousands of compatriots.
Visitors experience time travel to Ba Dinh Square through YooLife's virtual reality technology
The entire scene of Ba Dinh Square in 1945 was meticulously restored using advanced virtual reality technology. With modern VR glasses, the experiencer will be free to move in the 3D virtual space, interact with actions, and immerse themselves in the historical scene of the nation.
Through the digital projects at the exhibition, the Organizing Committee wants to convey a message about a happy Vietnam in the digital age: where technology not only showcases great achievements, but also contributes to preserving and spreading ordinary moments of daily life, smiles, memories and cultural values of each land. The reproduction of the entire exhibition space and the construction of a digital map of 34 provinces and cities is not only a testament to the power of Make in Vietnam technology, but also affirms the development orientation that focuses on people and the community. After 80 years of independence, a Vietnam that is both rich in socio-economics and puts happiness and national pride at its core is a solid foundation for the country to continue to rise and integrate.
