On the occasion of attending the 78th High-level General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, on September 20 (local time), in a sincere and open atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had meetings with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar, Finnish President Sauli Ninisto, and Polish President Andrzej Duda.

At the meeting with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure at meeting President Klaus Iohannis and affirmed that Vietnam highly values ​​the traditional friendship and cooperation with Romania, which has a history of more than 70 years of construction and development, nurtured by many generations. The Prime Minister thanked Romania for actively supporting Vietnam with vaccines in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister said that he personally always keeps deep impressions, good feelings and unforgettable memories of the beautiful country of Romania and the hard-working, friendly, hospitable and affectionate Romanian people.

To continue to strongly promote bilateral relations in the coming time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides increase contacts and delegation exchanges, especially at high levels, and continue to create breakthroughs in trade and investment so that bilateral relations develop commensurate with the potential and advantages of each country.

The Prime Minister said that the two sides need to continue developing cooperation in labor and education and training, which are traditional areas of cooperation in which both countries have needs and strengths. At the same time, the two sides need to cooperate and share experiences in sustainable management of the Mekong Delta and the Danube River.

President Klaus Iohannis was pleased to appreciate the good development of the cooperative relationship between the two countries in recent times, especially in economic and trade cooperation; he affirmed that Romania will make efforts to further promote cooperation in all aspects with Vietnam, especially in the fields of economy, trade, tourism and people-to-people exchange to match the development momentum of the bilateral relationship.

At the meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Poland, a priority partner in Central and Eastern Europe; sincerely thanked the Polish Government and people for actively supporting Vietnam in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In order to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides increase delegation exchanges at all levels and channels, especially at high levels, to enhance political trust and mutual understanding, and expand bilateral cooperation in all fields.

The Prime Minister hopes that the Polish Government will continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Poland to live, work stably, and integrate well into the local community.

The Polish President expressed his pleasure at meeting Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and conveyed his warm regards to senior Vietnamese leaders. The President highly appreciated the achievements in socio-economic recovery and development that Vietnam has made after the Covid-19 pandemic.

President Andrzej Duda expressed special interest in promoting economic relations between the two countries and said that the two countries still have much potential for cooperation, including in areas such as education and training, information technology, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture; and hoped that the Vietnamese Government would actively support Polish enterprises to invest in Vietnam.

At a meeting with Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen the traditional friendship with Slovenia, one of Vietnam's priority partners in Europe.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides promote delegation exchanges at all levels, especially at high levels, especially in 2024 when the two countries celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, as well as effectively implement the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

The Prime Minister asked the National Assembly and Government of Slovenia to soon complete the ratification of the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and have a positive voice so that the European Commission (EC) can soon remove the IUU "yellow card" for Vietnamese seafood.

Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar positively acknowledged the proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and affirmed that Slovenia always considers Vietnam as one of its priority partners in Southeast Asia; affirmed that Slovenia will promote multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam and suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation in a number of potential areas such as labor, science and technology, water resources protection, pharmaceuticals, and environmental protection.

Meeting with Finnish President Sauli Ninisto, the two sides happily reviewed important milestones in the traditional friendship between the two countries, especially in the context that the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations this year.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to developing the traditional friendship and good cooperation with Finland. To continue to strongly promote bilateral relations, the Prime Minister proposed that the two countries promote the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, to create momentum for bilateral cooperation to become more in-depth, substantive and effective.

At the same time, the Prime Minister suggested that the two countries continue to promote trade and investment cooperation to create more momentum for strong development of bilateral relations; wishing to expand the export of agricultural products, footwear, textiles and other goods to the Finnish market.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister asked the Finnish National Assembly and Government to soon complete the ratification of the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) to create momentum to promote investment relations on the basis of equality and mutual benefit between the two countries, creating favorable conditions for businesses to invest and do business in Vietnam; asked Finland to support the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU "yellow card" on Vietnam's seafood exports.

The President of Finland highly appreciated the development of cooperation between the two countries in recent times, especially in the context of the implementation of the Vietnam – EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). President Sauli Ninisto hopes that the two countries will not only continue to promote bilateral cooperation but also work together as a bridge to promote cooperation with ASEAN, the EU and between ASEAN and the EU.

At the meetings, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the heads of state affirmed that they will continue to strengthen cooperation and support each other at multilateral forums, including the United Nations, while promoting coordination in cooperation mechanisms of ASEAN and the EU.
