On the evening of September 30, in the capital Islamabad, the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 79th anniversary of National Day September 2 (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024).
According to VNA correspondent in South Asia, the ceremony was attended by nearly 200 guests, including representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, several ministries and sectors in Pakistan; Ambassadors, representatives of embassies of countries and international organizations in the capital Islamabad, along with many representatives of the Vietnamese community in the host country and Vietnamese and Pakistani friends and businessmen.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Pakistan Pham Anh Tuan reviewed the great achievements that Vietnam has made in protecting, building and developing the country since President Ho Chi Minh read the historic Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945.
The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam continues to implement its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development; multilateralization and diversification of relations; active and proactive international integration, contributing to peace, stability and common prosperity in the region as well as in the world . Vietnam today has become a dynamic country with rich development potential and a reliable partner of the international community.
Regarding Vietnam-Pakistan relations, Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan emphasized that since the establishment of diplomatic relations on November 8, 1972, Vietnam has always attached importance to developing friendly and cooperative relations with Pakistan in many fields, especially in politics, diplomacy and economics.
Regarding trade, in 2023, the total two-way trade turnover will reach over 700 million USD. In the first 6 months of this year, the two-way trade turnover reached over 400 million USD, an increase of 28% over the same period in 2023 and is expected to reach about 900 million USD in 2024.
Vietnam has a high demand for importing raw materials for production and processing to meet domestic demand and re-export such as cotton yarn, cotton fabric, corn, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and exporting to Pakistan products such as tea, pepper, cashew nuts, dried nuts and electrical equipment, telephones, synthetic fibers, etc.
Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan also affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan is always ready to accompany businesses of the two countries; provide information, connect and support businesses to come to learn, exploit and cooperate in import and export in the two countries.
Besides, Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan acknowledged the meaningful contributions of the Vietnamese community to the host society, to the homeland and the relationship between Vietnam and Pakistan.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan held a solemn reception with dishes that have become Vietnamese trademarks such as fried spring rolls and pho prepared by the wives of the Embassy; organized a promotion of products to increase exports to Pakistan such as Kim Anh tea, G7 coffee, fish fillets and displayed publications promoting the image of Vietnam to Pakistani and international friends.
The ceremony took place in a solemn and joyful atmosphere, leaving a very good impression on the guests./.
