Vietnam surpasses Thailand despite HCMC Women's Club losing in the semi-finals of the Asian Women's Cup 1

(NLDO) - Losing 0-2 in the semi-finals of the Asian Women's Cup 1, the Ho Chi Minh City team still helped Vietnamese women's football enter the top 5 in Asia in the club rankings, far ahead of Thailand and the Philippines.

The 2024–2025 AFC Women's Champions League (AFC Women's Cup) has come to an end with the title remaining with host China. In the final on May 24, Melbourne City FC became runners-up after being held to a 1-1 draw and losing 4-5 on penalties to Wuhan Jiangda Women's FC (China) in Wuhan, China.

Despite not winning the title, Australia's women's football team still topped the Asian Women's Club Rankings thanks to their excellent form with 97,662 points (70,000 from clubs, 27,662 from national team FIFA rankings). Wuhan Jiangda Women's championship helped China take fourth place in Asia - previously held by Vietnam - with 74,583 points (47,600 from clubs, 26,983 from national team).

Meanwhile, Vietnamese women's football has dropped from 4th place to the top 5 in Asia . Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club, with its participation in the semi-finals and loss to the champion 1-4, earned 70,393 points (46,200 from the club, 24,193 from the national team).

The remaining two positions in the top 5 belong to Korea (top 2 with 75,852 points ) and Japan (top 3 with 74,800 points ).

On this ranking, Southeast Asian representatives only have 3 teams in the top 10. In addition to Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand women's football teams are both in 9th and 10th place, with a score gap of more than 40 points compared to coach Kim Chi's team.
