Vietjet announces first direct flight connecting Hanoi - Jakarta

This afternoon, September 4, in Jakarta (Indonesia), Vietjet Air announced a direct flight from Hanoi to Jakarta on the occasion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Indonesia to attend the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
This is the first direct flight connecting Hanoi with Jakarta and also the fourth direct flight to the island nation of Indonesia by Vietjet . Previously, in May, Vietjet also launched a direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Jakarta.

With 4 flights per week between Hanoi and Jakarta and 4.5 hours of flight time per leg, Vietjet has increased the total number of flights between Vietnam and Indonesia to 92 flights per week from this December. According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietjet Air, Vietnam and Indonesia are two countries with large economies in the region. Developing direct flights between the two countries contributes to developing the Vietnam - Indonesia strategic partnership, becoming a convenient cultural and economic exchange bridge for the two countries and two peoples. In 2017, Vietjet first announced flights to Indonesia. Since 2019, the airline has pioneered the opening of a direct flight connecting Bali (Indonesia). Mr. Hung said that Vietjet also aims to transport 1 million Vietnamese - Indonesian passengers, contributing to developing the Vietnam - Indonesia strategic partnership, becoming a convenient cultural and economic exchange bridge for the two countries and two peoples.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien congratulated Vietjet on opening a direct flight from Hanoi to Jakarta. He also expressed his hope that opening direct flights between the two countries will facilitate travel and create favorable conditions for investment cooperation between the two countries in the coming time. Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno congratulated Vietjet on opening a new flight connecting the two capitals of Hanoi and Jakarta on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam - Indonesia Strategic Partnership; contributing to promoting trade and investment between Vietnam and Indonesia - a country with 280 million people, ranked 4th in the world and the metropolitan area of Jakarta with more than 10 million people. The two ministers suggested that along with Vietjet's flight opening, ministries and branches continue to promote activities, creating favorable conditions for people and businesses of the two countries to increase travel, explore investment and tourism; socio-economic development of the two countries and fostering and promoting the Vietnam - Indonesia relationship to become increasingly substantive and effective.
