Vietjet orders 100 new A320/A321neo aircraft

Vietjet and aircraft manufacturer Airbus have just announced a large order, including 100 aircraft and 50 options to buy the new A321neo.

The event took place at the Paris Airshow 2025, contributing to promoting economic cooperation between Vietnam - France and Europe, while marking a new development stage of Vietjet towards a multinational aviation group.

The order follows last month’s agreement for 20 new A330neo aircraft, bringing the total widebody fleet to 40, allowing the airline to add more flights on high-demand routes across the Asia- Pacific region, as well as launch new long-haul routes to Europe in the future.

Vietjet Board Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said: "I have a dream and am ready to take action to contribute to turning Vietnam into a regional aviation hub for passenger transport, technical services, logistics, training and research, global supply chain, aviation infrastructure... and we will certainly continue to develop a strong fleet. Today's agreement with Airbus is not just a commercial contract - but a milestone opening a new journey for Vietjet: a journey to reach out to the world, forming new growth poles, a journey of connection, towards a sustainable aviation ecosystem and the desire to conquer."

“Our latest agreement with Vietjet comes just weeks after the airline placed another order for the A330neo widebody aircraft,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Senior Vice President Commercial Aircraft. “The A321neo and A330neo will be the perfect platform for Vietjet to continue expanding its reach and meet demand more efficiently across its entire network. The airline will also benefit from the high level of technical consistency that is only available with the latest generation of Airbus aircraft.”

The A321neo is the largest version of Airbus’ best-selling A320neo family, with exceptional range and performance. Combining new-generation engines and Sharklets, the A321neo delivers 50% less noise, 20% more fuel efficiency and CO₂ emissions reductions, while maximising passenger comfort in the widest cabin in its family.

Like all aircraft in production, the A321neo can operate on up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and the goal is to increase SAF usage to 100% by 2030.

According to the ESG 2024 sustainability report, Vietjet's CO₂ emissions per passenger are among the lowest in the world .

Vietjet currently operates a fleet of more than 120 new generation aircraft.
