The case that occurred in Dak Lak was handled in accordance with the provisions of Vietnamese law.

On the afternoon of January 25, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , answering reporters' questions about the coordination between Vietnam and the United States to investigate the terrorist case in Dak Lak when there was information that there was ethnic discrimination in this case, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said: The investigation of the case that occurred in Dak Lak on June 11, 2023 was handled in accordance with the provisions of Vietnamese law.

During the investigation, the authorities of Vietnam and the United States have been regularly exchanging information about relevant organizations and individuals in accordance with the laws of the two countries as well as international law.

In an exchange with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security , the United States affirmed that it would not tolerate any organization or individual involved in the incident and pledged to support Vietnamese law enforcement forces in the investigation to clarify the incident in order to prevent similar incidents from occurring and affecting relations between the two countries.

Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized: "We always believe that all peace-loving countries and people in the world resolutely oppose terrorist acts in all forms and coordinate to strictly handle terrorist acts in accordance with international law."

Regarding some information that there was ethnic discrimination in the case, Ms. Pham Thu Hang affirmed: "We completely reject the claim that there was ethnic discrimination. All ethnic groups living in Vietnam are equal. The Vietnamese government always gives priority to ethnic minority areas, especially in socio-economic development and improving people's lives."

Also at the press conference, answering a reporter's question about the recent press release by Human Rights Watch mentioning the human rights situation in Vietnam in 2023, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated: We completely reject and condemn the so-called Human Rights Watch with the fabricated and untrue content in the above-mentioned report. This is not the first time this organization has made slanderous and biased accusations with bad intentions against Vietnam, plotting to sabotage Vietnam's socio-economic development and dividing Vietnam from the international community. The determined efforts and achievements of the Vietnamese Government in ensuring basic human rights have been demonstrated through actual socio-economic development results and have been recognized and highly appreciated by the majority of people in the country as well as the international community.
