Speaking with CAND Newspaper reporters this evening (October 22), Lieutenant Colonel Dao Xuan Truong, Chief of Nha Trang Ward Police ( Khanh Hoa ), said that this unit has coordinated with the Department of Culture and Society of Nha Trang Ward, the Center for Social Protection and Social Work of Khanh Hoa Province, to complete procedures to return the abandoned 4-year-old boy to his biological mother in the afternoon of the same day.

Before the transfer, the authorities worked with the mother, Ms. Pham Thi Hanh Q (born 1993), from Da Nang City, to find out the reason why the child was abandoned, and at the same time checked the related paperwork to determine the exact relationship between the biological mother and child.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Hanh Q, due to the need to go to Japan, she brought her 4-year-old son, Le Tan S, to Nha Trang ward (Khanh Hoa) to leave with relatives for about 2 months. However, because relatives were taking care of and raising 2 children, they refused to take S. Frustrated, on the afternoon of October 19, Ms. Q opened the Xanh SM application to book a taxi to Le Dai Hanh street, Nha Trang ward to take S to a hotel on Tran Phu street, Nha Trang ward. However, when the taxi arrived at the drop-off point, there was no one to pick up S, while Ms. Q's phone number was always unreachable because the subscriber had turned off the phone.

Checking baby S's luggage, the taxi driver found the original "Extract of Birth Registration" and passport issued by the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan on September 7, 2023 for Le Tan S, born on August 30, 2021 in Kanagawa - Japan; hometown: Thuan Phuoc, Hai Chau, Da Nang. The birth certificate extract has full information about the child's father, mother, hometown, place of residence, place of birth registration...
Immediately after that, the Green SM taxi driver took the abandoned boy to the Nha Trang Ward Police to report. Because they could not find his relatives, on the afternoon of October 20, the Nha Trang Ward Police and the Department of Culture and Social Affairs transferred the baby to the Khanh Hoa Social Protection and Social Work Center for temporary care and nurturing while waiting for the results of verification and search for relatives.
With much effort, on October 21, Nha Trang Ward Police contacted Ms. Q to verify and convince this woman to take back her son. At the meeting, Ms. Q also pledged not to abandon S.
