The people of the two countries always cherish this deep affection and are willing to contribute to preserving and fostering the Vietnam-Czech friendship, creating a solid foundation for the two countries to open up new horizons for cooperation.
The relationship between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, two countries geographically distant from each other, was sown very early. During the arduous struggle for independence of the Vietnamese people, the former Czechoslovak friends wholeheartedly supported and helped with material and spiritual aid, thereby contributing to the victory of the Vietnamese people. Sincere feelings, tempered through the flames of war, became the red thread running through the traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two countries.
The year 2025 marks a special milestone with Vietnam and the Czech Republic officially upgrading their relationship to a Strategic Partnership. This is a testament to the enduring vitality of bilateral friendship and cooperation and opens up prospects for developing a more comprehensive, profound, and effective relationship in many fields.
Economic cooperation is identified as one of the important pillars of the bilateral relationship. Vietnam is one of the important partners and potential markets of the Czech Republic in Southeast Asia. More and more Czech enterprises are interested in expanding investment and business in Vietnam, typically the automobile factory project of Skoda Group - the leading Czech automobile manufacturer in Quang Ninh.
For its part, Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen relations with traditional friends in the Central Eastern European region, of which the Czech Republic is a top priority partner. The two sides are making efforts to make the most of the Vietnam-European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and other cooperation mechanisms to soon increase two-way trade turnover to 5 billion USD in the coming time, commensurate with the level of the Strategic Partnership.
There is still plenty of room for economic cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is a country with a strong and stable economy in Eastern Europe. With industrial bases dating back to the 19th century, the Czech industry has favorable conditions for development, notably in the fields of automobile manufacturing, metallurgy, mining, machinery manufacturing, and electronics.
Meanwhile, from a poor country devastated by war, Vietnam has risen to become one of the economies with strong and sustainable growth rates in the Asia -Pacific region. Vietnam is also an important gateway for the Czech Republic to access the dynamic and large ASEAN market. On the solid foundation of high political trust, complementary economies and markets, Vietnam and the Czech Republic have every basis to open up new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam affirmed that, in addition to traditional fields, the two sides still have a lot of potential to strengthen cooperation in the fields of green transformation, digital transformation, renewable energy, mining, etc.
Along with the increasingly deep economic ties, the Vietnam-Czech relationship has achieved many good results in the fields of education , training and people-to-people exchange. The Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, with about 100,000 people, is a "cultural ambassador" contributing to strengthening the friendship and understanding between the people of the two countries. The hearts of Vietnamese people living in the Czech Republic always turn to the Fatherland, ready to share difficulties with their compatriots in the homeland. Recently, overseas Vietnamese have enthusiastically responded to the donation movement to support the people of central Vietnam to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and mutual love.
The 75-year journey of companionship has made the sincere and deep feelings between traditional friends Vietnam and the Czech Republic increasingly strong. In the context of the world witnessing many complex changes, the fact that Vietnam and the Czech Republic continue to strengthen their relationship based on the foundation of friendship is a step in line with the trend, helping the two countries to develop more firmly in the new period, facing new tasks and challenges.
