The low pressure area has strengthened into a tropical depression in the East Sea.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the low pressure area in the eastern sea of ​​the North East Sea has strengthened into a tropical depression.

At 10:00, the center of the tropical depression was at about 17.7 degrees North latitude; 119.0 degrees East longitude. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was level 6 (39-49 km/h), gusting to level 8. Moving in the West Southwest direction at a speed of 10-15 km/h.

At 10:00 on August 28, the tropical depression was about 410km east of Hoang Sa special zone with strong winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 9; moving west-southwest at a speed of 15-20km/h and likely to strengthen. The affected area is the sea area east of the North East Sea. Disaster risk level 3.

At 10:00 a.m. on August 29, the tropical depression in the Hoang Sa special economic zone sea area with strong winds of level 7, gusts of level 9; moving west at a speed of 15km/h. The affected area is the North East Sea (including Hoang Sa special economic zone). Natural disaster risk level 3.

From the next 48 to 72 hours, the tropical depression will continue to move mainly in the West direction, traveling 10-15km per hour.

Due to the impact of the tropical depression, the eastern sea area of ​​the North East Sea has strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 9; waves 2-4m high, rough seas.

Vessels operating in the above mentioned dangerous areas are susceptible to the impact of storms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.

Associate Professor, Dr., Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said: In the next 1-2 days, the tropical depression will head towards the mainland of our country. Currently, the possibility of it strengthening into a storm is not high, there is a possibility of the depression weakening into a low pressure area when it reaches the coast.

Regarding weather developments in coastal areas, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting informed that at Huyen Tran station (HCMC) there is strong southwest wind level 6, gusting to level 9, Truong Sa station (Khanh Hoa) has strong gusting to level 7.

Forecast, day and night of August 27, from Lam Dong to Ho Chi Minh City, the central and southern East Sea area (including Truong Sa special zone) wind level 6, gust level 7-8, waves 2-3.5m high.

In addition, on the day and night of August 27, the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from South Quang Tri to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang , the Gulf of Thailand, the North, Central and South East Sea (including Hoang Sa and Truong Sa special zones) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7 and waves over 2m high.

Warning: During the day and night of August 28, the sea area from Lam Dong to Ho Chi Minh City, the area between the East Sea and the northern sea area of ​​the South East Sea (including the sea area north of Truong Sa special zone) will have strong southwest winds of level 6, gusts of level 7-8, waves 2-3.5m high, rough seas. The northern East Sea area (including Hoang Sa special zone) will have strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 9; waves 2-4m high; rough seas.

Risk level of natural disasters due to strong winds at sea: level 2; in the eastern sea area of ​​the North East Sea, level 3.

All vessels operating in the above areas are at high risk of being affected by cyclones, strong winds and large waves.

According to the guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , affected coastal provinces and cities must closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of strong winds at sea; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.
