Completed reinforcement of houses and fish rafts

In Tan Phu and Phu Dong blocks (belonging to Quang Phu ward), tree trimming, house bracing, livestock and poultry barns, and aquaculture cages in the river were basically completed before 12 noon on November 6.

Mr. Tran Minh Hoang, Tan Phu block (Quang Phu ward), a fish cage farmer on Truong Giang river, said that his family is closely monitoring the developments of storm No. 13 and the accompanying flood situation to find a way to protect their property.

Mr. Hoang said: "Around the fish cages, I planted many poles to prevent the strong flood water from washing the cages away. This afternoon, my family moved all the fish cages to a sheltered place and anchored them tightly to a safe position."

Mr. Tran Minh Hoang's household has 3 cages for raising barramundi in the river for more than 8 months with a total water surface area of more than 90m2 . This type of fish can be harvested after more than 9 months of raising.

“My family's assets worth hundreds of millions of dong are under the river, and my family's livelihood depends on it, so I cannot be subjective about this storm,” Mr. Hoang added.

Along the Truong Giang River in Tan Phu Ward, there are nearly 20 households raising fish in cages. Therefore, to limit damage caused by storms and floods, many fishermen mobilized manpower to use ropes to secure and reinforce fish cages and move them to sheltered areas.
