E10 biofuel sold nationwide from June 2026
The content is stated in Circular 50/2025 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional gasoline in Vietnam.
E5 RON92 gasoline will continue to be used until 2030. The Ministry of Industry and Trade will review and adjust the biofuel blending ratio, or supplement mineral gasoline products appropriately at each time. This is to ensure energy security, the environment and consumer rights.
In addition, B5 and B10 biodiesel are not yet required to be blended for use in diesel engines. However, the Ministry of Industry and Trade encourages organizations and individuals to participate in the production and trading of these biodiesel products. Previously, from August 1, E10 gasoline was piloted for sale in three major cities including Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong.
Mr. Bui Ngoc Bao, Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Association, estimated that the use of E10 gasoline can reduce toxic hydrocarbon emissions by 25-30%. The Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Association also said that the Government should soon announce a draft decision to replace Decision No. 53/2012/QD-TTg dated November 22, 2012 of the Prime Minister "on promulgating a roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels" to solicit public opinions, focusing on amending a number of inappropriate regulations related to the petroleum market and product quality, on petroleum business management, standards for E10 gasoline...
According to Nguyen Hong Thanh, Head of Petrovietnam Gas and Petrochemical Industry Department, in order to effectively implement the use of E10 gasoline nationwide from January 1, 2026, it is very important to soon develop a separate pricing formula for E10, ensuring that all costs incurred and efficiency for businesses are taken into account. In addition, it is very necessary to have policies to encourage domestic ethanol production, ensure energy security and maintain stable supply. In addition, communication work needs to be unified so that consumers can feel secure in using E10.
In the world, many countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil, America... have mixed E20 biofuel, some countries have even used E85 biofuel, which means mixing up to 85% Ethanol alcohol.
