On the morning of August 30th, the solemn opening session of the 6th Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hai Duong province, for the term 2024-2029, took place at the Eastern Cultural Center (Hai Duong City) with the participation of 177 official delegates, representing 379,600 young people throughout the province.
Attending the Congress were comrades: Tran Duc Thang, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Luu Van Ban, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; some members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Council and People's Committee; and leaders of some departments, agencies, and organizations of the province.
Representing the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union were: Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, Standing Vice Chairman of the National Committee on Vietnamese Youth; Ho Hong Nguyen, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the School Youth Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, and Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association, 11th term. Also attending the congress was Miss Tourism Vietnam 2024 Pham Thi Ngoc Quynh - a native of Hai Duong province.
With the action slogan "Hai Duong youth are patriotic - united - volunteer - creative - developing", The congress affirmed the determination of Hai Duong youth to build a strong youth organization. It emphasized strengthening unity and gathering broad segments of youth, fostering revolutionary ideals, caring for and encouraging young people to compete in learning, creative work, self-improvement, career development, and volunteering to contribute to the successful achievement of the province's socio -economic development goals and the tasks of the youth organization and youth movement in the new term.
In their address to the Congress, Comrade Tran Duc Thang, Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee, and Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, praised the positive achievements of Hai Duong youth in contributing to the development of their homeland as well as to the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement nationwide during the past term.
The Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee requested the Provincial Youth Union to continue innovating the content and methods of its activities, promoting the "Study and follow the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh" movement, in conjunction with building a model of Hai Duong youth in the new era.
The Youth Union needs to do a good job of educating and guiding young people, contributing to building a generation of youth who are morally upright, visionary, intelligent, talented, self-respecting, and self-reliant. It should promptly grasp, predict, and guide the thoughts of young people. It should strengthen propaganda to help young people understand and actively fight against social evils, and raise their awareness of law compliance. It should resolutely fight against the schemes and tactics of hostile forces; help young people nurture great dreams and aspirations, and guide each young person to continue to consciously and diligently study, cultivate, and improve themselves, daring to think, daring to act, daring to take responsibility, loving their homeland and country; and possessing the necessary skills and abilities to undertake important tasks and responsibilities in the new era.
Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang requested that the Youth Union at all levels effectively implement the "I Love My Homeland" movement and the "Accompanying Youth in Self-Development and Career Building" program through specific and practical activities in the new era. He emphasized the importance of building and strengthening the Youth Union at all levels comprehensively, ensuring it truly becomes a broad social organization with the power to attract young people from all walks of life, guided by the motto "Wherever there are young people, there is a Youth Union organization."
Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Nguyen Tuong Lam, suggested that the Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union should persistently innovate the content and methods of implementing the "I Love My Homeland" movement, aiming to build a new generation of Hai Duong youth who are comprehensively developed. Emphasis should be placed on and a determination to strengthen the application of technology and digital transformation in the Union's activities and enhance the digital capabilities of young people. Effective solutions should also be researched to promote the entrepreneurial mindset and skills among young people.
On this occasion, 5 collectives and 10 individuals were awarded certificates of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union for their outstanding achievements in the Union's work and youth movement during the 2019-2024 term. The Provincial People's Committee also awarded certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 5 individuals for their exemplary achievements in the Union's work, contributing to the local economic development.
Within the framework of the Congress, there was an exhibition of photographs on the history and traditions of the Vietnam Youth Union throughout different periods; a virtual reality experience at the Con Son historical site; the launch of the E-office document management software of the Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union; the launch of the Hai Duong Provincial Youth Creative Space; and an exhibition introducing OCOP products and startups of Hai Duong youth.
Earlier, at the first working session on the afternoon of August 29th, delegates unanimously elected the Executive Committee of the Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union, 6th term, consisting of 33 members; the Inspection Committee of the Union, consisting of 5 members; and elected a delegation to attend the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union. Mr. Bui Hai Bang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union and Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union, 5th term, was re-elected as Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union, 6th term.
The Congress unanimously adopted the Draft Resolution of the Congress with 12 key targets for the 2024-2029 term.
These goals include: annually striving for provincial and district-level Youth Unions to have at least two activities participating in the preservation and promotion of national cultural identity; organizing campaigns to encourage young volunteers to donate 30,000 units of blood; supporting 100 startup, entrepreneurship, and innovation projects for young people; striving for 50,000 young people to participate in activities supporting the enhancement of digital skills, the use of online public services, and the use of electronic payment accounts; and 30,000 young people to participate in activities supporting the enhancement of foreign language skills and international integration...
