Accordingly, on May 13, 2025, a purple electric Xiaomi SU7 Max was parked on the side of the road when it was hit by an out-of-control truck. After the collision, the SU7 Max was crushed by the truck, causing the body to deform. The SU7's windshield was shattered, the body panels were wrinkled, and the front bumper was detached.

The above incident is seen as a practical demonstration of Xiaomi's efforts in developing safe electric vehicles. The SU7 uses a chassis structure that combines high-strength steel and aluminum alloy, with the proportion of high-strength materials accounting for 90.1% of the body.

Important positions such as A-pillar, B-pillar, floor beam and inner door frame use 2,000 MPa super-strength steel, providing a rigid passenger compartment and torsional resistance up to 51,000 Nm/degree.

The SU7 previously achieved the maximum safety score in the China Insurance Industry Auto Safety Index (C-IASI) tests. The electric vehicle is the only sedan to achieve the highest G+ rating in all three categories: occupant safety, pedestrian safety, and driver assistance safety.

However, according to data released by the China Automobile Quality Network – a platform managed by the China Market Supervision Administration – the Xiaomi SU7 was the model with the most complaints from users in the first quarter of 2025. With a total of 239 penalty points, the SU7 became the “last” name in the list of 29 electric sedans from domestic brands.
