On January 1, Master - Doctor Nguyen Ngoc Pi Doanh (Department of Neurosurgery, Children's Hospital 2) said that he had saved the life of a 6-year-old girl named BTYN (living in Binh Phuoc ) who was stabbed by a badminton racket from the front of her head to the back of her cerebellum.
According to Mr. BMV (father of baby N.), he was not at the scene at the time of the accident. However, people told him that about 10 days ago, the baby was standing in front of the house watching his older siblings play badminton. Suddenly, the racket fell out of his hand, flew up and landed on the baby's head.
People quickly took the victim to the hospital for first aid and then transferred him to Ho Chi Minh City for further treatment. At Children's Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, the emergency team noted that the child was in a deep coma, had a wound on the top of his head that had been stitched, and a CT scan showed penetrating damage to the brain.

According to the CT scan image, the injury from the front of the head penetrated to the cerebellum behind, causing a large amount of subdural and intracerebral hemorrhage, compression and cerebral edema. After receiving the patient, the hospital immediately performed emergency surgery to remove the hematoma and open the skull to relieve pressure on the victim.
Master, Doctor Nguyen Ngoc Pi Doanh said that this was a rare and extremely dangerous domestic accident. The wound was caused by an extremely strong force, penetrating and damaging brain tissue.
After 10 days of emergency surgery and intensive treatment, the baby is gradually recovering, opening his eyes and moving his arms and legs naturally. The child has now been transferred to the Department of Neurosurgery for further monitoring.
However, although the danger has passed and the child has shown signs of recovery, there will certainly be neurological sequelae because the brain has been severely damaged. Currently, the child still cannot speak and the left side of his body is weak.
