Da Nang: No deaths have been confirmed in the suffocation incident in Dien Ban Tay commune.

On the afternoon of October 28, the People's Committee of Dien Ban Tay Commune, Da Nang City, provided initial information about the incident in which 8 people in a family in Cho Moi Phong Thu Quarter, Dien Ban Tay Commune, became unconscious due to lack of oxygen.

Accordingly, at 10:45 a.m. on October 28, 2025, at Mr. Nguyen Q. L's house, in Cho Moi Phong Thu quarter, Dien Ban Tay commune, there was a suffocation incident in a closed room, causing 8 people in the family to simultaneously faint due to lack of oxygen. The victims included the elderly, Mr. L and his wife, a teenager and three children.

As soon as receiving initial information from the people, the Civil Defense Command of Dien Ban Tay commune urgently deployed forces to the scene, organized to break down the door to access, and bring all the victims out in cramped housing conditions, stuffy air and strong smell of toxic gas.

The victims received first aid at the commune health station, then the city's armed forces coordinated with local authorities to quickly transport them to the nearest highway intersection for ambulances to receive and take them to Cam Le Hospital and Tam Tri Hospital for further intensive treatment.

According to the initial assessment of the medical team, all 8 victims were in a state of severe respiratory failure, in critical condition, requiring intensive emergency care and close monitoring. The commune authorities have issued an urgent report, and at the same time coordinated with professional forces to verify the cause, and check households with similar risks in the area to prevent accidents.

Dien Ban Tay Commune requests relevant agencies to direct and support treatment and overcoming consequences, and continue to update information to promptly handle arising situations.

On October 28, the armed forces of Da Nang city continued to organize emergency transportation for seriously ill cases affected by floods. The force approached and took Ms. Dang Thi Minh Huong (born in 1967), residing in Phu Phuoc village, Dai Loc commune, to a medical facility when her condition worsened while being isolated by floodwaters. At the same time, baby Truc Anh (15 months old) in village 2, Dai Loc commune, who had a high fever, was also urgently taken out of the deep flooded area by the force for monitoring, care and timely treatment.
