Ms. Nguyen Hang (Thanh Hoa district, Long An province) shared: “In the past, I often shopped directly at the store to easily check the products, but now, I find online shopping more convenient. I can learn more about the product, read other people's reviews and compare prices before deciding to buy.”
According to forecasts from research organizations, the trend of online shopping for luxury goods in Vietnam has strong growth potential. According to McKinsey (McKinsey & Company is a global management consulting firm specializing in strategic research for corporations, governments and multinational organizations), consumers using e-commerce platforms to buy luxury goods could increase from 5% to 10% in 2023. A British media company - Communications Specialist even predicted that this rate could increase to 30% in the next few years.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung (born in 1998), who works in the marketing field, said: “The trend of online shopping is changing the approach to shopping for luxury products. Instead of having to go to the store, now, we just need to stay at home but still learn about the product, compare with other stores, and even order online.”
The change in online shopping habits affects not only consumers but also businesses. Businesses are changing their customer approach strategies, focusing on online shopping and taking advantage of the potential of e-commerce platforms.
However, not everyone fully supports this trend. Mr. Tran Minh Hieu (Thanh Hoa district) is concerned about losing the real experience when shopping online. “Sometimes, touching the product, feeling the color and material is an important part of the shopping experience. I am worried that online shopping will make us lose this,” Mr. Hieu worries.
Overall, in this multidimensional picture, the common thread is that consumers are looking to combine convenience and quality. Despite the changes, the interaction between online and offline shopping experiences is still being considered. This change not only affects consumers but also creates a new business environment for businesses, encouraging them to look for ways to take advantage of the online shopping trend and adapt to the transformation in the market./.
