Orders have increased sharply, so many facilities have to work overtime to meet delivery schedules for celebrations and major events across the country.

The flag sewing workshop of Mrs. Tran Thi Hoat's family (Chuong Duong, Hanoi ) is at its peak. Having been involved in the profession of making red flags with yellow stars for more than 40 years, Mrs. Hoat shared: "In the past, all stages were done by hand, from cutting fabric, drawing stars to sewing. Now there is the support of machines, helping to save time and increase productivity. I have passed it on to my children and grandchildren to preserve this sacred and proud traditional profession."

Preserving his family's traditional craft, Mr. Nguyen Van Trung (born in 1982) currently runs a workshop with 15 workers. Mr. Trung said that each day the workshop produces about 1,000 flags of various sizes. The wholesale price at the workshop currently ranges from more than 10,000 VND/flag depending on the size.

“This year, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2), the number of orders doubled compared to last year. Many units placed large orders to organize outdoor events, on islands and for grassroots running races,” said Mr. Trung.

Thanks to the village communal house yard near the factory, Trung’s family has received more and more orders for making special flags with large areas. With flags measuring up to hundreds of square meters, the production process requires high technology and a large area. From the fabric, cutting and pinning the star shape onto the red fabric to sewing and finishing takes more than 10 days.

Currently, Mr. Trung's workshop is producing national flags on an area of 600 square meters for the event organizer on the occasion of National Day, September 2. The closer the big holiday is, the busier the flag sewing and embroidery workshops are, contributing to spreading the sacred image of the red flag with yellow star across the country.
