Request Shopee and Lazada to immediately stop selling unannounced functional products

The Department of Food Safety, Ministry of Health requires Lazada Vietnam E-commerce Company Limited and Shopee Company Limited to only trade in functional food products that have been granted a Certificate of Product Declaration Registration by a competent state management agency.

On May 27, the Department of Food Safety (DFS), Ministry of Health issued an official dispatch requesting Shopee Company Limited and Lazada Vietnam E-commerce Company Limited to manage the business of functional foods in the e-commerce environment.

Accordingly, through post-inspection on the implementation of regulations on registration of declarations and self-declarations, production and trading of functional foods, the Food Safety Department discovered a number of functional food products belonging to the health protection food group, including: Omega 3-6-9 1,600mg; Natto Kinase 4,000fu; Estroven - Complete Multi - Sympton; Kirkland Glucosamine 1,500mg & Chondroitin 1,200mg; Glucosamine 1,500mg With MSM 1,500mg being advertised and traded on the e-commerce platforms Lazada and Shopee without being granted a Certificate of Product Declaration Registration.

To ensure the health and rights of users as well as the production and trading of functional foods in compliance with the provisions of law, the Food Safety Department requests Lazada Vietnam E-commerce Company Limited and Shopee Company Limited to urgently review the business and electronic transactions of functional food products, and only trade in functional food products that have been granted a Certificate of Registration of Product Declaration by a competent state management agency or have been published on the Food Safety Data Information System according to regulations. Immediately stop trading, remove information about the above products and report the results to the Food Safety Department before May 30.
