According to court documents released on September 29, technology company YouTube has agreed to pay $22 million to settle a lawsuit initiated by US President Donald Trump after the platform suspended his account related to the riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

YouTube, owned by Google, is the latest major tech company to reach a settlement with Mr Trump, who sued in July 2021 over alleged censorship.

Major social media platforms then suspended his accounts over concerns that the Republican politician could incite violence over allegations of 2020 election fraud.

According to the filing, the money will go toward new construction at the White House through the nonprofit Trust for the National Mall, to support the construction of the White House Ballroom.

Previously, in February 2025, billionaire Elon Musk's social network X agreed to settle a lawsuit involving former CEO Jack Dorsey for about $10 million.

In January 2025, a few days after Mr. Trump took office as President, Meta also agreed to pay $25 million, of which $22 million was for the fund to build Mr. Trump's future Presidential Library.

According to the 2025 annual report submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, YouTube's advertising revenue in 2024 will exceed 36 billion USD./.
