On the afternoon of July 17, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province coordinated with the Department of Physical Training and Sports (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), and the Vietnam Chess Federation to organize the 2024 National Club Chess Championship - The Grand Ho Tram Cup.

The players compete in Chess and Asian Chess in 3 categories: Rapid Chess, Blitz Chess and Super Blitz Chess.
As part of the national competition system, this year's tournament attracted 1,200 players from 34 provinces, cities, industries and clubs with strong chess movements nationwide. The players competed in Chess and Asian Chess in 3 categories: Rapid Chess, Blitz Chess and Super Blitz Chess. In the chess categories, players competed for individual male, individual female, male team (4 people), female team (3 people) in the age groups U7, U9, U11, U15, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U20, 35-50 and 51 years old and above; competed for individual male, individual female, male team (4 people), female team (3 people), mixed-women doubles in the championship group; players competed according to the current World Chess Rules.
Asean Chess, players compete for individual male, individual female, male team (4 people), female team (3 people), mixed-female pair in U13 age groups and championship.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Thang, Permanent Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Chess Federation, said that the tournament aims to develop the training movement and build a force of Chess athletes in clubs nationwide. In addition, it assesses the professional level of players and prepares forces to participate in international tournaments in 2024. The results of the tournament will be sent to FIDE to calculate international ratings.
On July 17, the players began competing in the tournament's events.
The 2024 National Club Chess Championship - The Grand Ho Tram Cup is scheduled to take place from July 17-19.
