In the early days of the dry season, the sun and wind covered the high mountain slopes of Tram Tau commune, Lao Cai province. The natural protective forests and production forests with thick vegetation cover pose a high risk of forest fires. In this situation, the authorities and people of Tram Tau commune have proactively and synchronously deployed many solutions to prevent and fight forest fires, minimizing possible damage.

In Pa Te village, Tram Tau commune - where over 111 hectares of forest are managed and protected, the shock team regularly patrols, especially in locations bordering production areas, which are at risk of being cut down for firewood.

To do a good job of forest protection and forest fire prevention, every year, Tram Tau commune strengthens the Steering Committee for Sustainable Forestry Development and the shock teams in each village; assigning specific tasks to each member in charge. The commune also develops a plan for on-duty and patrolling to protect forests according to the fire forecast level, especially when the risk is at level IV, level V, the local forest rangers and members of the forest protection shock teams in the villages are on duty 24/24 hours in high-risk areas.

In addition, Tram Tau commune has increased inspection of slash-and-burn farming at locations bordering production areas and forests, through village meetings to propagate and remind people not to burn fields indiscriminately, not to bring fire into the forest; to guide the safe treatment of vegetation and to clear firebreaks. The commune also organized 100% of people to sign a commitment to prevent and fight forest fires.
