Lao Chai is an area with a large population of Mong people, and economic conditions are still facing many difficulties. Therefore, in recent times, the Party Committee and the communal government have paid special attention to implementing "smart mass mobilization" models in economic development, considering this an important "key" to contribute to sustainable poverty reduction. Many practical solutions have been applied and brought about clear results.
One of the typical examples is the economic model of Mr. Thao A Thong's family in Xeo Di Ho A village. Previously, his family only raised a few pigs, grew rice and corn for self-sufficiency, so life was still limited. After participating in training courses on cultivation and animal husbandry organized by the Commune Farmers' Association and visiting and learning from effective economic models in and outside the province, Mr. Thong boldly changed his way of doing things.
In 2020, he decided to borrow money to build a new barn, raise two sows and more than a dozen pigs, and open a rice milling shop to serve the needs of people in the area. From the income from selling pigs, he continued to invest in expanding the scale of farming, gradually increasing the herd and buying seeds and fertilizers to improve crop production efficiency.

Mr. Thong said: "Thanks to the Farmers' Association's propaganda, mobilization and technical guidance, along with the support of local authorities in accessing loans, I am confident in expanding the scale of livestock farming, investing in rice milling machines and applying scientific and technological advances to corn and rice production."
Currently, his family is raising 10 sows and more than 20 pigs. Each year, the model brings in over 5 tons of pork, hundreds of breeding pigs, 100 bags of rice and 50 bags of corn. Total income reaches over 500 million VND/year, after deducting expenses, the profit is about 200 million VND, making his family one of the well-off households in the commune.

For the comprehensive economic model of Mr. Sung A Khua's family in De Sua village, life was previously difficult when they only relied on a few fields and raised a few goats and pigs, with insignificant income. In 2017, Mr. Khua went to many places to learn and with loan support, he tried his hand at a new animal: super egg ducks.
From 200 super egg ducks in the first batch, his family has now increased the flock to 500 - 600 ducks per batch. Thanks to raising super egg ducks combined with increased production, Mr. Khua's family earns over 150 million VND each year, becoming one of the well-off households in the village.
Mr. Khua said: “Thanks to the local government’s propaganda, mobilization, and guidance, my family has boldly converted livestock to raising super-egg ducks to supply collective kitchens in the area, bringing in a good income. Each year, we earn over 100 million VND, contributing to improving the family economy.”

Along with the model of Mr. Thao A Thong and Mr. Sung A Khua, Lao Chai commune also has many other typical production models such as: wild boar raising model of Mr. Giang A Cheo in Co De Sang B village; black chicken raising of Mr. Lo A Sau, Dao Cu Nha village; buffalo and beef cattle raising of Mr. Giang A Hong, Xeo Di Ho B village... Thanks to that synchronous development, the total main livestock herd is nearly 14 thousand heads, including 10,355 pigs; meat output reaches 705 tons/year; total poultry herd is up to 39 thousand heads. At the same time, the total grain output of the whole commune reaches nearly 8,400 tons/year. Currently, the commune has 3 cooperatives, 35 cooperative groups and 23 agricultural and forestry production households with high economic efficiency. These results have contributed to raising the average income per capita of the commune to 29.5 million VND/year and helping the poverty rate reduce by 7.5% per year.

Through effective economic development models, the influence in the community is increasingly expanded, contributing to propagating and mobilizing people to effectively implement the Party's policies and the State's laws, helping to consolidate and strengthen the great national unity bloc, create social consensus, mobilize people's strength to join hands to successfully complete the local socio-economic development goals. At the same time, it makes an important contribution to ensuring national defense and security; people's lives are increasingly improved.
With the motto of "practical, specific, in-depth, comprehensive", Ms. Sung Thi My - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Chai commune, said: "Since the beginning of the year, the Fatherland Front Committee of the commune has focused on mobilizing people to actively change the structure of crops and livestock, apply science and technology, link, exchange, and support capital to improve production and business efficiency. The commune's mass organizations have built and maintained 12 "smart mass mobilization" models, in which 5 groups helping each other develop the economy have helped each other with over 400 seedlings and animals...".

With the goal of supporting at least 5 poor households to escape poverty each year; maintaining 35 models, projects or tasks in economic development and environmental protection; at the same time promoting propaganda and mobilizing union members, association members, and members to actively participate in the OCOP program and start-up activities associated with OCOP products, in the coming time, the Lao Chai Commune Fatherland Front Committee will continue to effectively implement "smart mass mobilization" models, creating a clear change in awareness, promoting innovation in economic development thinking of the people, bringing practical results, making important contributions to the completion of the goals set out in the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress, building Lao Chai homeland to develop more and more sustainably.
