Nghi Son Town Forest Protection Department propagates and disseminates knowledge of forest fire prevention and control to high school and middle school students in the area.
Mr. Tran The Thanh's family, Phu Quang residential group, Dao Duy Tu ward, has more than 30 hectares of land planted with acacia and pine trees. To limit the occurrence of forest fires, before the hot season, Mr. Thanh always takes the opportunity to go up the hill to cut down dead trees, prune dry branches and clean up and treat the ground cover. In particular, his family takes turns guarding and patrolling the planted forest and neighboring natural forests to prevent, promptly handle and prevent the spread of fires.
According to Mr. Thanh’s experience, extremely hot weather, leaves that are too dry easily catch fire when they come into contact with cigarette butts, burning votive paper, burning incense, fires left by people and students... are the main causes of forest fires. Therefore, to prevent forest fires, each person must be aware of and understand the causes of forest fires, from which they can take measures to prevent and respond to the “fire enemy”.
Mr. Le Van Son, Deputy Head of Nghi Son Town Forest Protection Department, said: “We have directed the local forest rangers, together with localities and village chiefs and protection teams, to propagate and mobilize people to organize and implement fire prevention and control measures, especially before the dry season, thereby minimizing damage caused by fires. In propaganda work, we pay special attention to disseminating fire prevention and control knowledge to high school and middle school students so that they have the best knowledge when organizing and participating in field trips and picnics during the summer vacation...”.
To proactively implement fire prevention and control measures, Thanh Hoa Forest Protection Department has advised the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Provincial People's Committee to issue a system of documents directing the implementation of fire prevention and control work; advised the provincial steering committee to develop a plan and organize inspections of forest protection and fire prevention and control work in key localities; directed steering committees at all levels to self-inspecte forest protection and fire prevention and control work in localities. Organize and maintain the operation of the rapid response team for forest fire prevention and control of the department office. Regularly direct, inspect, urge and guide the implementation of fire prevention and control work at the grassroots level. At the same time, direct affiliated units to advise the People's Committees of localities to synchronously and drastically implement solutions in fire prevention and control work; fully prepare forces, means and logistics to be ready to participate in forest fire prevention and control. Implement the reduction of combustible materials under the canopy of pine forests and concentrated planted forests in areas at high risk of fire. Directing the organization to strictly implement the PCCCR command regime, on duty at 14 forest fire observation camera systems and 57 designated guard posts at key forests, especially during times of high forest fire risk from level 3 and above... In the first 6 months of the year, there were no forest fires in the whole province.
From the achieved results, Thanh Hoa Forest Protection Department continues to drastically implement forest fire prevention and control solutions, effectively control the risks of forest fires. Improve the response and handling capacity of forest owners and commune-level authorities to handle arising situations. Strengthen patrolling, inspection, and forest fire guarding during peak times, avoid being passive and surprised; prepare forces, means, and logistics to participate in forest fire prevention and control according to the motto "4 on-site". In addition to the initiative of functional branches, units, and localities, each person needs to raise awareness and responsibility in forest fire prevention and control work, minimizing damage caused by forest fires.
