Implementing the policy of restructuring the agricultural sector with appropriate directions, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the province's agricultural, forestry and fishery production sector continues to maintain a stable growth rate. The average growth rate of the whole sector is estimated at 3.44%/year; the harvest value per hectare of cultivated land by 2025 will reach 73 million VND, an increase of 43.7% compared to 2020. Income per hectare of aquaculture water surface will reach 115 million VND, an increase of 30.8%.
The province has focused on promoting the application of science and technology and high technology to improve productivity, quality and competitiveness of products. The work of granting codes for growing areas and building raw material areas associated with processing factories has been strongly implemented, contributing to job creation and increasing income for people.
Building brands and developing concentrated production areas
To date, the province has established and maintained 218 codes, including 202 export growing area codes with an area of 2,803.15 hectares and 16 growing area codes in the field of cultivation with an area of 179.09 hectares. There are 31 products bearing the province's geographical name that have been granted protection certificates by the Department of Intellectual Property, of which 2 products are protected abroad.
The province maintains 262 safe agricultural supply chains; water-saving irrigation systems cover 3,891.83 hectares; net house, greenhouse and membrane house areas cover 115.5 hectares. The organic crop area covers 2,352.13 hectares, including 808.43 hectares of rice, 1,000 hectares of longan and 543.7 hectares of coffee. The organic certified area covers 264.8 hectares, along with 5,596.6 hectares of VietGAP certified crops. In particular, the sustainable certified coffee area covers 23,448 hectares, with a coffee output of over 28,000 tons.
The province has built and recognized 09 high-tech agricultural zones; it is expected that by the end of 2025, 10 zones will be operational. Currently, there are 6 cooperative unions, 897 agricultural cooperatives, 26 cooperative groups and 257 farms, of which 11 enterprises and cooperatives meet science and technology standards.
The province focuses on investing in intensive cultivation of fruit trees and industrial crops in the direction of stabilizing the area, improving new high-yield varieties, expanding the planting area according to the planning and linking with processing. By 2025, the area of industrial crops in the whole province is estimated to reach 91,185 hectares, an increase of 22% compared to 2020; the area of fruit trees and hawthorn trees reaches 85,050 hectares, an increase of 7.86%. Fruit output reaches 510,000 tons, an increase of 51.6%. Developing raw material areas to supply agricultural processing factories such as: Raw material sources for Doveco Son La: Current cumulative purchasing output is 43,849 tons, including: mango 18,900 tons; pineapple 4,000 tons; passion fruit 1,750 tons; sweet corn 8,516 tons; soybeans 8,983 tons; other vegetables 1,700 tons; IC Food Van Ho Company: Cumulatively processed 1,976.63 tons of various vegetables: cabbage 593.9 tons; bok choy 450.7 tons; mustard greens 40.9 tons; carrots 119.8 tons, Chinese cabbage 762.7 tons; fresh garlic, green onions 1.5 tons; onions 7.13 tons; Nafoods Tay Bac Company: Purchased and processed output since the beginning of the year reached 478 tons of passion fruit.
Promote research, technology transfer and scientific linkages
The province focuses on developing research and application zones of high technology in agriculture, building a project to establish a high-tech agricultural zone in Moc Chau.
The research, application and transfer of science and technology area in Moc Chau has implemented: 10 models of science and technology application; 02 grassroots-level topics, 01 provincial-level topic; Cooperation in training and research with the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture
Implementing a soil-free vegetable and fruit model under the project “Smart Agriculture for Future Generations”. In addition, the province has connected with 23 cooperatives, promoting over 70 OCOP products, contributing to enhancing the value and competitiveness of local agricultural products.
The province's agriculture is shifting strongly towards clean - organic - high-tech, forming concentrated production areas, widely applying science and technology, increasing added value and competitiveness of products. The results achieved in the period of 2021 - 2025 are an important foundation for the agricultural sector to continue to develop sustainably, modernly and integrate deeply in the coming time.
